In answer to *****'s question earlier, are you able to log in to your Cpanel?

With that being the case, there is still a setting needing to be changed on your pc. If you couldn't connect to the Cpanel, we could assume it's an ISP thing, but that obviously isn't the problem.

Do you use a router as part of your pc setup?

Yes a wireless Belkin router. I get a funny feeling now we might be getting closer to the problem.

We might be. That router has a firewall built into it as well. You'll probably need to access the user manual to configure it, but I'd try the quick fix, which enables all outgoing connections and see what happens.

But that doesn't mean that it's necessarily allowing all outgoing connections. I'd still recommend you go in and tell the router to allow these if you can.

Another thought would be to connect to your pc directly from the modem and see if things improve that way. What kind of connection is this? Dsl, cable, dialup...

dsl. I just took the router out of the loop and hardwired to the modem. Still timed out when attempted to publish. Bugger!

Well, at least that's eliminated as a possibility.

Let's try a remote thing. Email me your Cpanel username, password and the IP address you use to publish.

This was a great thread in trying to help a fellow member. Can Racefan or fulhamfc1 come back and tell us if you were able to resolve this and what the problem ended up being. This thread is valuable in that it details some of the processes people need to go through to determine why they can't publish. Hope you figured it out and look forward to what it was!
