I am having a problem publishing my index page. When I go to publish it it stops working like freezes up, but also the file shown when I do hit publish instead of the file saying "index.html, it comes up as the name of one of my images on the home page.

I have been trying for two days help, as you can see this is my first time doing a web

When you hit publish, is your window publishing to the

    Folder: public_html

    with nothing else following that...

      Hi!

When I hit publish only the file shows and only two dashes come up and it stops. the file comes up with an image file and not the index.

        Re: index problem

OK, I think you are saying that the page publishes, but when you look at the page on the internet you're getting a file instead of the page?

If that's the case, then you have not named your index page properly as index - nothing else, just index

If that's not the case, you need to explain better - when you hit publish - a little box comes up on the page - and you need to select your IP address - are you getting the right ip address? And under that it should say public_html - then you hit publish

And lastly, you do have a VH account, right?

Yes I do have a VH account. I have my IP correct and it does say public_html. When I hit publish another box comes up and on the box it says PUBLISH and the file is under it and the uploading strip comes up with 2 uploading marks and freezes up.

            Hi Beth

Yes I do have a VH account. My IP is correct, but when I hit publish a box comes up titled PUBLISHING under that is a file that refers to an image on the page instead of index.html, and under this is a bar uploading but stops with 2 marks and freezes up.

                What is your web address?
When the pages are publishing, it is normal to see pictures and other things pertaining to the page in the publishing window while its publishing it goes through all the items on the page. While its publishing you also do not want to click cancel just because it looks like it's not doing anything. Neither do you want to click the X to close the window until it's done. Often times it appears to be frozen, but if you just sit and wait a few minutes, it will tell you that it's finished publishing or that it was unable to publish for whatever reason.

Are you giving the program ample time to work its magic? Depending on your connection, and the files you are publishing it could take several minutes to run its course.

That error most commonly occurs when you inadvertently have the same page open twice in BV.

This is how everyone else publishes their home page:

                            have a VodaHost account first.
                            install blue voda
                            create page
                            hit publish button
make sure correct server IP is selected
This is the same server IP, User name and password provided by VodaHost in your email.
make sure you are publishing a page named "index" to your public_html folder. If you are doing all this correct, i suggest uninstalling blue voda and reinstalling.
                            Best Regards,

                              Re: index problem

A 12002 error is a timeout error. You might also receive this error if you are trying to publish to the wrong IP address. Please make sure the IP address you are trying to publish to is the same IP address that is in your welcome letter.

Otherwise you are receiving it because you are trying to upload a very large file, or your internet connection speed is very slow. The first thing you will want to do is run a pix resizer over all your photographs to compress their size:
                              http://www.vodahost.com/pix.htm
                              After you have done this.

                              1)
                              Open up BlueVoda
                              2) Go to Tool >> Option >> Publish

Change the timeout time to 600 or more.

Also make sure that you are using the latest version of BlueVoda.
