www and just plain http

I noticed that some of my pages are displayed on the web as www.sitename.com/pagename.html and others as http://sitename.com/pagename.html. How did that happen? Does it matter which form it comes up as and if so, how do I make it that way.

It shouldn't make a difference. the only time it will matter if links on your site come up with just www.site.com instead of http://www.site.com or http://site.com is when site.com is an external site. For instance, if your website is

www.mysite.com, and on one of your pages you have a link to google.com. If the link that is used is www.google.com, and doesn't have http://, when you click it will try to go to www.mysite.com/www.google.com
