? about managing pages and images

I am working on a web site that will eventually have over 400 products and be heavy on images. In BV (on my PC) I established folders for each type of product that I will be adding to the web site and I file newly created pages under the proper folder. Seems to be organized as I can find what I am looking for.

When using BlueFTP to remove a couple of pages from the web site I had a hard time finding the pages. The volume of files that I can see is intimidating.

    1) In BlueFTP I can see over a hundred files named bv01*.*.gif or _over.gif What are they?

    2) If I delete a page should some of those .gif files be deleted also?

    3) How would I know which ones are connected to the page I am deleting?

    4) Is there something I should be doing during the process to keep some organization in this file folder also?

    Hi Barbara

    1) These could be shapes or lines that you made in BV
    2) Only if you are confident they are not common to other pages
    3) Typically all your pages will be a clone of each, where perhaps the only common element is a menu bar. If however you have text links or image links that link to this page, then you will need to be careful. Only you would know what links are connected because you built it.
4)I tend not to bother. If your images are named sensibily, when you open blue ftp everything runs alphabetically anyway. If you forget what you named a image go to your website where it appears, do a right click, save as and up will pop the name you saved it as.

    Hope this helps

    Darren

Thank you Darren. It sounds as if I was inventing something else to worry about!
