    Index page published but...

    Username: ROYSTONE

At last, I published my Index page, but my joy was cut short
when I tried to access it through Google. I got the following
    message:
    Network Timeout
The server at www.ourlamp.com is taking too long to respond.

The requested site did not respond to a connection request and the browser has stopped waiting for a reply.

    * Could the server be experiencing high demand or a temporary outage? Try again later.
    * Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.
    * Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.

I am a computer illiterate. I am asking for help.

When I clicked on your link I am asked for a login and password, did you publish to your public_html folder or do you have it in a pasword protected folder? I would assume you would want users to atleast see your home page, republish to the correct folder.

Roy I'm still getting the same thing (password protected page), how and to what folder are you publishing your pages? You did not password protect your public_html folder from your control panel did you?

My apology, Ed. I forgot that I password-protect at cpanel.
One of your clients had complained of interference with his site
and asked what could be done. He got the following advice and I tried it out:

Go into your Cpanel and password protect your public_html directory
and add yourself as a user.
This will mean that only you can see the whole website.

When you are ready, remove the password protection.

You can see a step by step tutorial in the tips and tricks

It gets worst, Ed. I don't remember where I hid the password.

          Sorry for the inconvenience.
