    Help re Index page

Hi there, I seem to be having a little trouble with my Index page and wanted to claer a couple of things up.

Is my homepage, supposed to be saved as Index.html or Index .bvp? as when I make changes and publish it doesn't seem to take effect?

Also, when I change my page width and make changes to the banner to centre it, whn I go back it has changes back to the original width all the time?

One last thing, wn I preview my pages everything seems aligned and in order, but when I publish them a line of text at the bottom of my page won't be aligned although it is when I preview the page?

    Thanks,

    Re: Help re Index page

    1) You need to save the index page as a .bvp document, all lowercase letters:

    index.bvp

    2) I would need to see the page, but this occurs if the pixel width of the banner is wider than that of what you have set the width to in the page properties.

    3) Can you provide us with the URL of your page so we can look at this.

      Re: Help re Index page

Hi there Sarah, thnaks re the index advice.

Well, I wanted to make my site a little less wide, as I think maybe it is abuit on the wide side (currently 1000) what do you think?

But when I go to my index page and change the page width to 950, move the page content to the right (so it centres itself when I preview) save an go back to it, it automatically goes back to 1000 page width?

I seem to be able to do it with my other pages, just not the index one!

Pleasae take a look at the site http://www.theworldwidestory.com/ and let me know if i should bother changing the page width anyway.

      Thanks,

      Rich

            Re: Help re Index page

Hi Linda, read your post but when I set to 800 by 600 I cant fit my page within the dotted lines? as some of it overlaps?

Also when i check page width it still says 1015?

All i need to do is make all my pages a little less wide?

            Many Thanks,

yes it will do that cos you have to make your page fit between the lines....you will have to move things about or you will keep having this problem...the bottom dotted line doesnt matter ...a long page is ok ..its the one on the right... i can see a few of your images that would be overlapping the line you will have to move it all round so they dont overlap the line.

Try moving everything as far to the left as possible ....or maybe putting your globes elsewhere...they seem to be the problem as far as i can see

Or try this .... move your globes closer in so that the outside of the globe is inline with the end of your nav bar ...then move your letter count to the bottom left hand side just below the book

your page width ..yes set it to 800 ...the 600 is the lengh but it doesnt matter about that ...the 800 is the important one ...have a go...jst do one step at a time .. you'll get there

Ok so just to clear it up I set the guide settings to 800 by 600. and then also go to page properties n make sure that the page width there is always set to 800 also?

                          Rich..

Yes thats correct....but make sure you have done all the moving about so that everything is to the left of the line or you will be back to square one
