    Dealing With WP Spam

My quiet little blog is just finding it's legs and already spam is becoming a problem.
I receive fake messages everyday and wonder how these could be more effectively
filtered out. I want the blog to be open for comments but I have no patience with
sorting through unwanted spam. Any suggestions are very welcome.

    Re: Dealing With WP Spam

Welcome to the reality of blogging ...

The only meaningful way to deal with the situation (which will not go away) is to set Permissions for you blog that ALL comments are to be held for Admin review (in Moderation) rather than automatically be allowed to post directly to the blog without review or permissions granted.
You should also 'populate' the block list of forbidden words also, as this will provide another layer of filtering to the comments submitted.

And, you will need to accept this "task" as a necessary and regular part of proper Wordpress Blog Administration. No other way around it, Marcie, sorry!

Re: Dealing With WP Spam & missing photos

I have all comments held for review already. How tedious, what a bore, oh well. Now that I know
this is normal I'll try to ignore it. BTW, I added a film today that Kostis threw together about
      our amateur wine making.

Now for a much more serious problem:
ALL my BlueVoda site photos have been mistakenly removed permanently from my computer.
Please remind me how I can download the missing photos from the site and have them all
fall into the correct paths on my computer so I can update the site, business as usual. I am
really hoping I'm not asking the impossible. Please advise.

Via Cpanel > File Manager > public_html/ directory, copy all the photos in the Images folder and those single images in the general directory also. Save them to a new, separate folder on your system, and re-import them to your saved BV pages, essentially creating new paths. Re-publish the pages.
