    404 Error Message

On my web site www.elizabethbaileyportraits.com, I am getting the following message when I click on some of the portraits:

    Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /OilPortraits-34-600.jpg on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Some of the portraits open in new pages when clicked as I wanted them to.

Others, I wanted to enlarge when they were clicked. I used the photo gallery option and thought they were working when the site was published. Obviously they aren't now.

Could someone please tell me how to properly insert images that will enlarge when clicked?

Barbara, can you tell me one that isn't working? I just went to the site and clicked on a whole bunch - and they all worked.

        Re: 404 Error Message

You have a 403 Error --- document/page not found >> means either the link or the destination is improperly configured.

The link you have currently have on the picture on your main page is one for a bookmark (the "#" symbol), and I am assuming that this is supposed to open either the Gallery or Lightbox feature in BV for the page?

If so, you may wish to simply edit the (destination) link to either, as the looks like this: http://www.elizabethbaileyportraits....its-34-600.jpg and it is not 'connecting' to the lightbox/gallery generated page properly.

Now....if you are trying to link this Main Page image to another web page that has the larger version of this image, you should change the link extension to ".html" rather than the ".jpg" that it is set for now. (Assuming the 'image page' has already been published properly).

Then, re-publish the Main page with corrected link and be sure to refresh your browser!

The message I am getting says 404 Error--but then I don't know what either of them means! I did a View Search and see what you mean by the "#'" symbol but I don't know how it got there and don't know how to get rid of it.

When creating the index page, I clicked on "Gallery" and added my image, selected the thumbnail size and the Target as "Open in a pop up window". This feature worked when my site was first published. What do I need to do to get the Gallery to open when the image is clicked on?

Did you put a shape or anything over this picture?

If you want to send me your bvp index page, I'll take a look at it.

Every one of my images on www.elizabethbaileyportraits.com that are supposed to enlarge in a popup window are no longer working.

                Re: 404 Error Message

The visible "#" makes me think you are trying to use an "on-click' method for pop-ups.....(they begin with the "#" symbol, and are 'scripts' you paste into the Hyperlink URL field).

                * You can't use both (since you mentioned Gallery). Either one or the other....and from the sound of it, somehow you mis-cionfigured the Gallery altogether, if that is what you are doing and not the on-click pop-ups.

I would suggest "saving" your current index page with some coded name, and then re-opening your index page, stripping all the Gallery items off, and re-installing it completely -- and properly.

If you absolutely need to, you can always re-open your coded page (your archived index) and either Copy/Paste from there or re-name it once again index and re-publish.
Either way, you are not "losing" anything but an hour or so of your time to do it over again fresh.

I am going to try the suggestions that both of you have given me but before I do anything, I would like to know why this happened. When the web site was completed (as if they are ever completed) all of my portrait images enlarged in pop up windows just like I wanted them to. Now suddenly, they aren't working. Why would they work at first and not now?

                    Re: 404 Error Message

Did you make changes to the pages and publish? Somehow I'm guessing in the changes you made, something corrupted these - but it's only a guess. As I told you after looking at the page you sent me - the gallery ON THE PAGE needed to be redone - it was NOT on the BV page correctly. So, your BV page got changed since it was originally published - and the change somehow effected the gallery. Since I didn't see all the manifestations of the page, I can't say how/what you changed that caused it.

And my email to you suggested redoing the page. If I had all your pictures, etc on my computer, I could have remade the page in a matter of minutes - much faster than we're all spending trying to figure out what went wrong.
