    Hy everyone,

I'm in need of soome help here please:

Originaly in my website, header image (made in photoshop), was wayyy to big (305kb) and was a png image, then I have resized it and now its about 50kb and its jpg.

When I go to tools»page wheight, it keeps telling me that that image still 305kb/png .
I have replaced it over and over again with new one, but results are the same.

Also, when I go to tools»page weight, there is something stated there that says:

Note: Keep in mind that some files are used by multiple pages they will be loaded only once.

In my understanding, this means that all elements similiar in my pages are only loaded once (header, menu bars, etc)???

In cpanel, all my pages have a header corresponding to that page, so its loaded evrytime I publish one of my pages, with the 305kb/png...

I have speed connection, and yet all my pages take much time to load...

    What can I do?

    Hope somebody can help...

Re: Images in page and templates

Hi, I think there is 2 or 3 problems here.
    • When you save as a jpg, try saving with a totally different name & don’t replace the old image, delete & then re-enter the new one.
    • When you made your pages, I think you made them individually & not off a template or cloned page. So the header image is different on each page & has to be loaded separately each time. I believe this is down to BV’s way of sorting out a png fix which is not very good as it gets rid of the image name & alt tags. So you will be better with a jpg file.

Your pages still have the old image? Or have you not published the new pages ayet.
    Regards Chris.

      Hi Chris...

      Thank you for your answer.

I tried that, but using same image name, and deleting the old one.
      I'll try that way now.

I make my pages from a previous existing page, for ex. I open "teapots",
and then Save page as ... Mugs.
And from that I start my new pages.. always like that.

If I clone lets say "teapots", change content, and then save it as "mugs", will the header and similar images be loaded only once?

      I'm soooo confused....
Having lots of work reducting images following your image/photo tips, but still can get a decent page size...

Re: Images in page and templates

You are usually better striping one of your page's down to just the elements that will be common on every page & save this. Then use this as the page to be cloned or template for all others on the site. So you might end up with header/footer of the page & a blank center to work with on each one.
        Regards Chris.

          Hi Chris...

          I'll try that...

Just now I have saved header with another name, deleted logo from page, saved page, close page, open page again, insert new logo with new name, go to tools page weight, and the result is the same...

          I'm so disapointed....

Re: Images in page and templates

                  Hi Chris,

After a few tries, I have finaly found what was wrong.

My image was inserted as .jpg with the 50kb aprox., but over it, I had put a stencil effect (available in BV builder/image tools).

I have removed it, and now is working as jpg, with original size.

I didn't know that these effects would change image size, and turned it to png.
I have watched many tutorials, related to images, but never saw this info explained.

Anyway, I would like to thank you for all your support.
Bad news for me now is, that I have to republish again ALL pages that are already made.

                    Try and open your ftp
goto public_html >>>>your folder where the image is and delete it.

                    Then republish.
