How to change a BV Image via remote

I am trying to update a marquee on a friends webside from my computer but BV won't allow me to save changes. Are marquees, glass buttons, Nav. bars, etc. images? If so, do I need a special software for this? I can make changes to text and publish only. All help appreciated.
