    Its not too difficult to remove the text from pics, but it is a deterrent.

      Marc:
      The clear over sounds great and easier than encryption. Thanks for the tip.

        Well this worked for me, create a table with only one cell, and border size
        at one, drag to enlage it over all your pics and set layer in front of your pics,
        this way when they try to copy it they will only copy the border.
        hope this helps

          Or, someone suggested the desktop grid. But, still for 4000 photos? Then you need two sets, one with for web and your original ones. Yikes...

            Hey!

            Here is an html code that will help you out so that NO ONE is ABLE to LEFT CLICK which means no copy / paste.

            <!-- Begin Code provided by bwservices.ca -->
            <body bgcolor="#FFFFFF" ondragstart="return false" onselectstart="return false" oncontextmenu="return false">
            <!-- End Code provided by bwservices.ca-->

            ______________________________
            Enjoy!

                I really appreciate everyones input here. It's been an overwhelming response to something I originally couldn't get my head around..

                u guys are the best..

                Data goes straight in to the HTML code front? correct?

                  why not open a password protected subdomain, with clear over and right hand disable I think I will use only the password protected site for my video gallery.

                    Or do the rollover thingy-majig and select the picture that you want seen as the initial image. As the rollover image, go to google and search their image gallery for a picture that says "image not available". You could make yours too if you want (no point in using other people's stuff if you don't want to share, if you know what I mean). That way, when someone moves his/her mouse over your picture that they are so tempted to copy, the image changes into the one that says "image not available". But that kinda gets rather tacky...

                          ... the code can only be used to prevent people from trying to copy and paste ... although I am trying to figure out something to prevent someone from copying the screen "PrtSC"

                              .. true, and if anyone ever does have one of your images on their site and you have a privacy policy of some sort or some copyright law you may be able to sue.

                                Re: Locking Images To Prevent Copying

                                I favor (and am in the process of implementing) the simplicity and immediate effectiveness of the transparent overlay technique in BV for 'protected' graphics, logos, or images.

                                Finding a solution for carts (re: product images and other provider marks) is something I am dreading. Doing some homework....

                                (and maintaining a POLICY about copyrights rather than simply having a copyright symbol on your page is the first justifiable means of recourse should you have to chase an offender down - you have to clearly state the 'rules' and offer the opportunity to be fairly warned. Then a letter from an attorney usually suffices....I had to do it to get PriceScope (a Canadian site!) to abandon their use and promotion of a term/name I had "protected".....and I would not have even known unless I constantly googled my terms. words, etc. Doing it for images would seem impossible.....
