    BlueVoda Affiliates and Google

Hello. Can I participate of Bluevoda Affiliate Program and Google Adsense at the same time? I read somewhere that I need Google's written permission to do that. If so, what do I do?

    Re: BlueVoda Affiliates and Google

Adsense, like the VodaHost affiliate program, is an optional feature that you as "Publisher" decide to include in your website, merely by adding banners, links, or graphical displays. It is your site, and you are in control.

There is nothing (and can never be anything) to preclude you from participating in as many or as varied programs you desire. There is a common sense rule that you should use restraint in the number of ads/links you place on your site, and that they should be "non-conflicting" (all Google, all Yahoo etc.).

(To remain approved and active -in compliance- with these programs, you will however be required not to tamper with the unique code or links provided).

You can add fix link banners that are affiliated if you wish but cannot use contextual ads IE: where the affiliate searches your site for content to make sure appropriate ads are place on your pages. IE Yahoo and others that use your site to place adverts this way. Just another way for Google to gain a monopoly.

      Chris.

        Chris.
"Contextual Content and Contextual Ads" mentioned by Chris are an element to be aware of, but are not expressly forbidden: Examine your Agreement specifically, paying attention also to Key Word management and Promotion Usage guidelines, as rules apply as to how you can create your Content, word your sentences, and "optimize" for Search Engines. (For instance, there are certain word combinations you are definitely not allowed to use as Key Words, Meta Tags, Page Titles, or for SE Bids)

Bottom line, as originally advised, be aware of the programs you are Agreed to comply with and their particular parameters, but do not feel as if you are bound to "obey" any stipulation that overshadows your creative control.

Most of the adgenda being established by AdSense, Google Ads, and Yahoo! appear to your advantage initially, but may entangle you to unforseen influences. There are discussions about this aspect in the "Google" Forum here at VodaTalk.

VasiIi. I was only was reading from the Google rules area & interpreted it as below. It seems to say we do not permit. I was confident that, Expressly forbidden & do not permit were the same thing????

          From https://www.google.com/
          "Competitive Ads and Services 07/29/2006

We do not permit Google ads or search boxes accessing Google search services to be published on web pages that also contain what could be considered competing ads or services. If you have elected to receive contextually-targeted Google ads, this would include all other contextually-targeted ads or links on the same page as Google ads.
This would also include ads throughout the site that mimic Google ads or otherwise appear to be associated with Google on your site. Although you may sell ads directly on your site, it is your responsibility to ensure these ads do not mimic Google ads. If you have elected to receive Google search services, this would include other search services on the same site and non-Google query-targeted ads. We do allow affiliate or limited-text links."

I agreed that Google is quite clear about NOT putting dynamic search-based ads or Search "tools" from another such as Yahoo! for example, as their whole ad scheme is keyed into hard-search and ranking, as well as those that appear to be associated with Google or could be confused with Google (or their "reputation").

It is clear, when re-reading my statements, that I was correct pointing these aspects out (and there is no disagreement with your presenting Google's Rules), other than how they do in fact allow Contextual links and Affiliate ads...as long as they are not competitive (search-based), which was opposite of what you had advised.

            Right?

            And on we go....

Apprecitate the sentiment, David, but not really funny.(There is no "sparring" going on. Alas, I must spell-it-out once again ) The fact that there was some sort of mixup at all is what I find disturbing.

As a "newbie" once myself, I recall that I hung onto every word as Gospel as I scrambled to do my web stuff, and I feel you must be extremely accurate in how you answer some of these questions (all of which are valid), paying particular attention to the words used and how they are applied. I am still "clarified" in some technical areas yet by General Naval, and I welcome these instances, so as to better assist other VodaPeers.

Don't you agree that it would have been unfortunate for such a valid question like "Can't I be a VodaHost Affiliate and still use AdSense too?" to be answered in the negative if that were not a correct answer?

Hi! Vasili, I am sorry my question disturbed you. But, like you said, remember that you were a newbie once like I am now. With so many responsabilities, I do not have enough time to read everything I find about web site management so I come to the forum to find fast answers to my questions. Besides that, I have always found your comments very helpful. A very bright person indeed. Excuse the rest of us.
And, Anani is an indian word wich means water flower, so I'm a girl.
                    Thanks for your help.
