    Advertising Page creation.....

I presently have a page created at

What my question is about is in regards to setting up folders in reference to each Title of the Advertising that will go under the respective heading.

    Accessories
    Art
    Automobile
    Books
    Business

    etc, etc, etc,

Since the page name is http://Martech-Inc.biz/Advertisers.html

How should I create each internal page to be created?

Am I to link the Accessories title to the folder in the cPanel I created?
Or will I need to create the page to be linked to http://Martech-Inc.biz/Advertisers.html/accessories ?

I want each Title on the Advertisers page to open into a separate page which is not directly linked to the http://Martech-Inc.biz page but yet can be opened from the Advertisers page when any title is clicked.

    Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Re: Advertising Page creation.....

I'm not sure what you mean by " to open into a separate page which is not directly linked to the http://Martech-Inc.biz page "

Anyway, depending on the complexity of the page / folder structure, you can have the further pages directly in the top folder or in their own folders. If f.e. you expect to have 30 pages in the "accessories" category, 60 in the "Automotive" and so, it would become unthinkable to place all the pages in public_html.
You can create separate folders for each category. So you will have one folder for accessories, one for Automotive and so on.

Now, depending on what you want or need to do, (it's not very clear to me) in each folder you can have a single page (in this case you can even call it "index" or more than one. In this case, the "index" of each folder will contain the links to the further pages of the same category, it will be a real index of the pages in that category.

Or will I need to create the page to be linked to http://Martech-Inc.biz/Advertisers.html/accessories ?

Absolutely not!!. You cannot have links that after a page name (Advertisers.html) have further folder name.

If you use the above method, of having

      Naval Design:

I have created many folders each with respect to the Heading that will appear on the Advertisers page, ie Accessories, Arts, Automobile........

Now that I have such folders created, I tried to add the Affiliates area located at the top of the Advertisers page to its respective folder. But the page does not open when the Affiliate link is clicked......

This is happening to all Header topics.....

Accessories opens in a 404 page.... as do the others. How would I create the Headings to link to their respective page?

When creating the page, I made sure that they were directed to the Advertrisers page link. But the Advertisers page link will not open into the links when clicked?

This is the link to the advertisers page to give you an idea what should happen but is not happening.

        Re: Advertising Page creation.....

Ok, let's see your Accessories folder. You have, in your Advertisers.html page, created a text link, for the word "accessories", and you have linked it to http://www.martech-inc.biz/accessories/ . This is wrong!! as i wrote above,

Or will I need to create the page to be linked to http://Martech-Inc.biz/Advertisers.html/accessories ?

Absolutely not!!. You cannot have links that after a page name (Advertisers.html) have further folder name.

        Your link should be http://www.martech-inc.biz/accessories
In fact, if you click on this link, you will see the folder "accessories" content.

Now, if you create, for "accessories" a page called "index", this page will appear when you click on the above link. In that "index" page, you can have further links, to accessories subpages.

Hi, I was just having a similar chat with another member at this link. http://www.vodahost.com/vodatalk/blu...tml#post130971

You maybe better with a links directory/ links manager for the sake of a few dollars.
If its only a hundred or so links? Then BV is no problem. If it’s more? Then think about a database.

            Navaldesign:

I understand the .index must be placed in the Accessories folder located at http://Martech-Inc.biz/accessories

What I am having a problem with is the Affiliates section located above the Table. Where to the left you have Merchants: and right is Affiliates.

I created an Affiliates Agreement page and have tried many ways to add the page to the folder Affiliates, so that when clicked the Affiliates Agreement page would open. I have created a page that had the extension as Affiliates.index, Affiliate.index, affiliates.index, and affiliate.index. but none of the pages opened up when clicking on the Affiliates from the Advertisers page.

I am sure it has to do with either of the name of the actual page or how I am trying to link that page to the Affiliates link at http://Martech-Inc.biz/Advertisers.html

There is NO "Affiliates" folder on your site. There is a "Affiliate" folder and your page, "Agreement.html" is there. Click on http://www.martech-inc.biz/Affiliate/ to see the folder, and on http://www.martech-inc.biz/Affiliate/Agreement.index to see the page.

You need to be more carefull with what you type and how you link.

When I clicked on the link
                http://www.martech-inc.biz/Affiliate/ a 404 shows up.

When I clicked on the link
                http://www.martech-inc.biz/Affiliates.index/ I get the following.

                Parent Directory 06-Mar-2007 14:55 -
                Agreement.index 06-Mar-2007 14:47 7k

And when I click on the link
http://martech-inc.biz/Affiliate/Agreement.index I get the Agreement page.

But when I go to the link
http://martech-inc.biz/Advertisers.html And attempt to open the Affiliates link at the top of the page I get a 404 page and not the Agreement.index page which should open.

On the http://Martech-Inc.biz/Advertisers.html page there at the top are as follows:

Merchants: 5 Star Advertising group Affiliates:

Clicking on the Affiliates as stated above opens to a 404 page and not to the Agreement page as it should.

I have saved the pages in BV as follows:

                Affiliates.index
                Affiliate.index
                Advertisers.html

None of the above opens the Affiliates link on the page to the Agreement.index file as it should

And when I publish the page it appears in the file manager but yet at the actual site the page will not open into the Affiliates: page as it should.

NavalDesign has already stated that you CAN NOT have this:

it should be something like this: http://martech-inc.biz/Advertisers/Affiliates.html

It looks as if you are getting your folder names mixed up with your page names....................

                    Robert

i found those links yesterday, and i copied them directly from my browser address bar. If they are not working anymore, it is because YOU HAVE CHANGED THEM in the mean time. In fact, you have created this new folder, at 14:55 hrs yesterday, two hrs AFTER my post. Probably you have been trying to find out what was going on and kept creating and renaming the folder and the links.

David is correct: you have confused folder names and page names.

Your folder, where all the pages relevant to affiliates, will be, must be called "Afiliates" . If the very first page, that will contain either the agreement, or whatever else you want, should be called "index" (and not "Agreement") . This way, the link from the Adverisers page to this one, will be http://www.martech-inc.biz/Affiliates .

If you DON'T want to name the first page "index", for any reason, then you can call it "Agreement" as you have it, but, the link from the Advertisers page to this one, should become:

http://www.martech-inc.biz/Affiliates/Agreement.html which is longer and harder to use.

That's all that is involved with it. No more, no less. If your links do not work, it is either a typo, or a structure mistake.

As you have it now, in this very moment, the working link is: http://www.martech-inc.biz/Affiliate...greement.index

                      Naval:

I found out the reasons that were stopping me from creating the pages which I was working on.

If you have time please check out the following link to the areas I was talking about.

Granted I understand that some of the links are not working yet.... Why turn them on if there is nothing to put in there yet? But basically there are 3 Headings which I have placed some sort of Advertising in.

                      Heading 1 http://martech-inc.biz/Affiliates_Programs.html

                      Heading 2 http://martech-inc.biz/Animals.html

                      Heading 3 http://martech-inc.biz/Freebies.html

As soon as I gain more advertisers I will have the other Headings opened up with the respective ad in them.

Please let me know what you think as of this moment on how I have managed the page issues stated before?

I'm not sure what you would like me to look at. You have your Advertisers page, and you are linking directly from it to pages that are all at the same folder. There is no difficuty in this. You have not used anymore a folder structure, and you have all the pages placed on the same folder. Personally, i don't like this solution, as when a site comes to having 100 or 200 pages, it becomes very hard to search with FTP or file manager, so i prefer to have different folder structure. But this is all entirely up to you.

Please note that if you have understood the folder structure and how to publish / link pages inside these folders, then there is no difficulty about that also.

Naval as of right now I was going to maintain this avenue, but as you said with many pages and FTP management this will become a issue down the road. I know I will eventually change it to reflect as you stated. But until I really see that it will be needed if at all. I will keep it as it is for now.

Thanks alot for all you have done.

I was going to add this info onto our website so as to help in promoting your business. If that is acceptable.
