Is it legal to copy an article from a news site question..

    Hello,
I am building my first web page so this question is probably real basic.

Can I copy an article I found here http://www.internationalreports.net/...2007/iuon.html

and paste it to my site
    [www.nursingschoolstore.com]

or do i need to rewrite the article...
    thanks John

Sure you can paste it in your website, just make sure you show who the publisher is.
    Best regards,

Despite what Jeremy thinks, you need to fully review the Policy posted on the source website, for often published Policies subordinate the common Copyright Rule (of dutifully listing source in full): often, permission to quote in part or whole is completely forbidden, and many times also written permission is required (as they deem your use appropriate, etc.). Still others require registration of reprint, to better manage their intellectual assets. There are many variations, and the practice is growing, with all the abuse and internet plagiarism that has been presented in the last year alone!

Being so cavilier about Copyright and Infringement issues will create liabilities that will be hard to shake off ......

OK.. whats that lil curly thing swimming around?

And Vasili is correct. Obtain permission and make sure you have it. Also make sure of its relevancy, and duplicate content issues to your site.

Off in the corner like that, it's more like the mosquito that is driving you nuts until you simply swat it!

hm...but hypothetically you could write an article about the article (kinda rephrasing it) and then just link to it, right?

                          read this.
ahh...finally a nice bedtime story. *lol*

seriously, IMO as long as you give some kind of credit to the author and not just copy/paste a text 1:1 or even worse label it as your own, no one is gonna argue. i mean, real individual content seems way to much work and therefore gets rare...

                          just my two cents

There are rules about how much of a work you may publish, very gray area, no matter if credit is given or not. I believe you may print "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..." and more, but you cannot reprint the entirety of "A Tale Of Two Cities" (for example).

Well.. i wouldnt do that either. You could write your OWN article and quote sources where you found your information to base your hypothesis on. Just dont repeat everything already said, but make it an original opinion etc etc.
