Advice - Suggestion for a Giveaway

I will be putting up my site for good. I am doing a "soft rollout" and sending out an e-mail to friends, peers, etc. I thought that something catchy/cute might be kinda cool. I would like the first 20 people who can answer my trivia question be able to receive a small cookie sampler (with business cards, of course).

    1. Is that corny?
    2. What does anyone suggest?

I am thinking that I set up a cart item that has no price and the discount voucher is the answer to the question?

    TIA!

Some people are like slinkys. Not really good for anything, but bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

A sampler is always a good idea, and free is even better .. your idea will be a favorite for sure, just hope you don't give away the "dough" lol before you can "bake up your profits" .. I've seen this type of campaign work successfully with "tea" sites ..and oh yes, u can add me to ur mailing list if I can win some cookies and you would ship them to me .. lol ..
Recipes, sharing recipes, user submitted recipes, some like to see something they have "created" or "made" on a website.

Your first idea (although well-intentioned) would constitute a "Lottery" rather than a Giveaway, and there are Laws and specific Rules you need to write into the format to be both compliant and reduce your legal liability. Be careful. Know what is what, and how to create the type of "event" you can support fully, as both a marketing tool and a means to build a clientele base....

Depending on which cart foundation you use, "vouchers" and "coupons" should be distributed apart form the Product Categories, for they are in fact elements of your transaction: they are not "product" for if they were, they too, would be violating Contest guidelines, as "no purchase required" means that coupons and vouchers be offered apart from a transaction (even a "zero" transaction) yet applicable to a transaction separately. They should be offered more appropriately as a PDF that can be viewed/printed/downloaded by consumers (and as a PDF not be edited or changed!) without entering a function that may require them to "register" or establish a 'buying posture' such as creating an account for a cart....thus, the various formats for "discount fields" ....

Holy ****, Vasili. Thanks for heads up. And here I was thinking.... obviously not thinking.

Boy... it's just a dang cookie. I will revise my soft rollout idea!

Advice-Suggestions for a Giveaway? GOOD RULES!

You would be surprise how many nuts come out to get in your cookies!

Having really well structured Rules and formats keeps not only yourself safe from others trying to get over on you (for whatever reason), but will protect you from potential liabilities that you would never dream to be applied to you too ...... worst of all, each State has variations, so if you are doing something online, it's gotta be worded so tight that you are compliant everywehere!
