    3-way link exchanges?

I'm getting quite a few emails lately like the one below. Is this a good thing to be accepting? I'm just starting to see some pr on some of my pages and I don't want to go backwards.

    Thanks
    Brenda

    Re: 3-way link exchanges?

    Brenda,

3 way links CAN work yes, however, not one like this!

Some companies will get you to link to their main site, then give you a link back from a putposely built site with the intention of just giving links out.

I get emails saying they want my wedding website to link to THEIR wedding site, but they will give me a link back from thier 'Spanish Properties' website..... nuh huh!!! I don't think so.

Search for your own sites that you feel would benefit from having a link to, and/or from.

Don't see links as a way to increase your search placement, see them as relevant websites that your visitors may be interested in, and vice versa, if you find a website that you think THEIR visitors may be interested in your products or service then email the owner asking to link up.

DON'T use these websites that are set up to collect hundreds of sites to link exchnage with, this system does NOT work, and can even have the opposite effect.

Remember you also don't necessarily require a 'links' page on your site. A website that may be of interest to your viewers but not harmful to you in the way of competition can be anchored into any text on any of your pages and you can also ask for the same in return.

Also try and get links in to your site for ALL pages of the site and not just the homepage, this will help the SE's index and rank your full site.

A good tip: Be wary of accepting a link exchange with anyone who signs themself off as 'Links Manager' at the bottom of their emails (as in your case).
Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.
