Please advise:

Are there any restrictions (and consequences) of placing PayPal donation-buttons on the site?

Like, a limit of numbers of these buttons, placement (is it OK on the Index page?) and other directives?

No, we do not restrict the number of PayPal buttons on your site and the type, you can have as many PayPal donation buttons as you want!
