SEO for pages in directorys that are password protected

The title says it all really - do I need to optimize pages that are behind a password protected area? They don't really need to be found by engines as they are restricted, but does it look at your site as a whole?

    Thanks for any help,
    Jon

    Jon,

SEO is for search engine optimization. So if the search engine doesnt see it, no, it doesnt have to have it, however, IF your people see it, it should still be designed with the same techniques and usability, so to a certain extent, yes, titles that make sense, short and descriptive etc etc, good phrasing, easy to read and navigate.
