"About us" page important?

Hi there,

Have just read an article about SEO. It was saying that SEO is an ongoing process,etc. It has also mentioned the fact that it's important to have an "About Us" page in our site; that it should be updated often and that SE's like this type of page.

Any ideas if that's right or make any sense?

It certainly won't hurt. But if you do the page - make sure it tells about the people in the company and the company. It can help to bring credibility.

Do NOT do the page if you're only doing it for se's. You need to create the page because you want it for your visitors.

While you're here on this forum, can you tell me what you think about having a sub domain? My idea: to target people who want only the transfers from the airport to the city and no tours.
Would be a page just for the transfers:www.aucklandtransfers.nzbrtours.com.
(and using key words people would use to look for transfers)

Questions: - Will this new sub domain compete with my existing site?
- Can this new page harm my old one in regards to ranking?
