    Site appearing in search engines

Hi. Does anyone know how long it takes for a new web site to show up in search engines. I published my site two days ago and it is not showing up yet. I did name my pages in page properties and added meta tags. If I forgot to do something, can someone please let me know.
    My site is: deltapropertiesofiowa.com
    thanks for the help. JaneM

Re: Site appearing in search engines

First of all, did you submit your site to any search engines? You can submit directly to Google.. and there are some free "submit" sites around that require you to post their banner or button on your website, then they
    will submit for you.

I would imagine that "eventually" your site would be picked up even if you did not submit, but I would not hold my breath on that one.

Even if you submit directly, you go into a queue for uploading, which can take weeks, if not longer.

    Hope that helps!

IMO posting a link to your site here, not just typing the name of your site will help you in the long run...this forum (Vodatalk) is spidered daily by many bots...

Don't believe me?...Click on "Quick Links" at the top of forum and just see how many bots are currently spidering this joint!

Check the forum for Search Engines and Directories to find out how many have their posts spidered before their sites EVER get indexed...

Two days does not a week make...

Well it WOULD be picked up if you put a link to it in your posts or in your signature.. and you wouldnt have to submit at all.

If looking to get picked up just 2 days after publishing Is maybe 1 out of a thousand normaly if it can take 3weeks or more if the site is relevant with decription and keywords . Just look under awswats to see if google bot has crawled the site so you may have a idea.

Re: Site appearing in search engines

Homes for sale, Cherokee, Iowa, Farms, Commerical...which are your keywords copied directly from view source...are too generic.

Not meant as insult, or to demean you...please keep in mind that if I did not care that I would not post to your thread...BUT

these "one word keywords" are not what your visitors are searching for...

Try Cherokee Homes for Sale, Iowa Homes for Sale, Iowa Farms for Sale,....

catch my drift?...keywords phrases is the ticket, BUT

Make sure you use the same keyword phrases in:

the text on your page (MOST IMPORTANT),
              the page title,
              the page meta description,
the meta keywords (use phrases instead of single words), etc.

And make doubly sure that each page of your site is optimized for its own keyword phrases (as in the list above).

Then you need to market your site...just building it will not bring traffic...posting here is a good start....

Re: Site appearing in search engines

You have been given lots of good advice which should help your placings with the SEO's.....
but please remember that nothing is set in stone as far as the clients and SEO's are concerned.

Using phrases is excelent, and using relevent single keywords is also excelent....

                ie: Cherokee,Homes,for Sale,Iowa,Farms
will also work as all the above keywords could be contained within a typed search request and found by google etc.

To see the logic of this.

                use google and type in:

                maramu cruiser for sale

result....... (No 5 on first page)

Note: the above positions can change from day to day or week to week.....
All depends on google and newer/updated sites.

Re: Site appearing in search engines

Well, folks, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I obviously needed an education on search engines, etc. I visited several sites that gave me a small education. I have since changed my page names and meta tags according to Google's suggestion and have submitted my site to Google. Google checked my site and reported no problems. That's not to say I fixed everything, but at least I have a start. Thanks again for your assistance.
