Problem with Headline in Firefox and IE

Could anyone tell me how I can get my H1 to be the same size in Firefox and IE? I haven't published this page yet because of this problem but my site is www.americaneaglesigning.com and the sentence I'm trying to convert to a H1 is 'Welcome to American Eagle Signing Service - Home for all your Notary needs! TIA

LOL... youll drive the SE nuts with a H1 like that. If you use it... dont make it H1.

Welcome, to, for, all, are not keywords and would put STOP to their significance. An H1 is a HEADLINE like a NEWSPAPER...you dont see..

WELCOME TO THE NEW YORK TIMES-YOUR SOURCE FOR NEWS IN THE KNOW

Or some such, your h1 should be something like

    Notary Services, Signing Services

Thank you Karen! I wasn't sure what to add but wanted to put a H1 on the site for SE possibilities. (This was suggested to me in another forum). I now understand how to address it. That said, what code can I use to have the lettering the same size for both Firefox and IE?

        Something like this

        <h1><font size="4">headline goes here</font></h1>
So in Bv youd highligt BEFORE tag <h1><font size="4">

        after tag </font></h1>

I forgot to add this needs to be in its OWN textbox. right click to get the properties/html so you can enter this in...otherwise it will be everything in that text box.

          Hi Karen,
That's pretty much what I've been trying with the exception of adding color and italics. I removed what I had and put in what you show above just to try it and I got the same results, i.e;Firefox has smaller lettering than IE. I've tried various adjustments with the font size to no avail. ???

Not sure what to tell you. Theres differnces in the browsers and how they render things. Best you can do is come up with a happy medium. Determine which visitors use which browser the most and satisfy the bigger audience. You are going to have this issue no matter what you build with.

Hi, I know this is not much help. But I don’t think there will be an easy way round the FF & IE issues. A lot of it is down to IE not following the rules & standards for browsers with the IE 5 & 6 versions, but the other browsers software writers did, (Like FF & many others). This is also becoming a problem with IE 7, as this is mostly compliant with the browser rules (Cant win Eh!)
              Regards Chris.

                Thanks Karen & Chris,
I had a feeling I wouldn't be able to do anything but try to "fit" it in as best I could. I do have one other question though. Does it matter to SE's where on the page you put a H1?

Re: Problem with Headline in Firefox and IE

They still recommend using it as there are still many SE's that use these tags. But there are also quite a few blog's & posts on other forums saying that its being phased out. I would stick with it for now.
                  Regards Chris.

Re: Problem with Headline in Firefox and IE

The phase out thing is that the SE also read bolded Text.. so its an extra step, and because of HEAVY mis use of it.

Yes.. it matters where you put it. a HEADLINE is a HEADLINE is a HEADLINE. Its the START OF THE PAGE or START OF THE TOPIC. So NO you cant just throw it in anywhere you like.

Karen & Chris - Thanks again,

Back to the drawing board! The use of a H1 on my site appears to be too much of a problem because of the IE/Firefox differences.
