Sitemap Question

Hi,

Following Step 1 of instructions from XML-Sitemaps.com I uploaded a sitemap to my public_html file. Step 2 states: go to your Google Webmaster account and add your sitemap URL. I tried that and got this:
My Sitemaps (0) http://americaneaglesigning.com/ General HTTP error: 404 not found
We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit.
I tried various combinations in the box to access the file but keep getting the same error. Help!!

You didnt enter the correct path to your sitemap.

http://americaneaglesigning.com/sitemap.xml

Thats the path to your sitemap.. its there and its fine.

Hi Karen,

That's the URL I entered in the box (didn't show when I cut and pasted the error msg) on the Google Webmaster when I got the error message. I did check to see if the sitemap was in my public_html folder and it is but according to the XML-Sitemap.com instructions I need to add it in the Google Webmaster Account. ???

Check that the permissions on the file is set to 755

I changed the permission to 0755 as you suggested but still have the same problem. ???

Hi Karen,

I figured it out! Instead of putting in the entire URL all I needed to do was put in "sitemap.xml".
