    Norton approved website

ok forgive me if I have put this in the wrong forum! I am trying to register my website with Norton. They sent me the following details (codes have been changed prior to posting on forum:

Step 1: Add a publicly viewable file at the root folder of your Web
    site.
    a) Create a file with the following file name and content:
    File name: nortonsw_d70-7793-0.html
    File content: nxpwndnqslzr8ygc0ld9jmwgxod7k5qdvx1k-0lgdrc4e7d2a0nvc4dmb4tt8u873l0nb9mml2g50rh30m0o3x1 4peti6qsfhpss7vz28-ghonk03cevt9xo70vupqz4
    b) Add the file to the root folder of your Web site.
    c) Verify that the file is publicly available at:
    http://mowcopchurch. com/nortonsw_d70-7793-0.html

ok I know it must be obvious and basic but how do I add the file to a root folder of my website?...are they meaning my publichtml folder in file manager on the control panel?
    Thanks, Ruth

Make a page and add their content to an html box and save the page as the name they give you and publish it. The root folder is just where your index page lives

Hello Karen, I am obviously doing something wrong as Norton says that I need to put the auth code into root folder.
I have opened a new blue voda page creates a box as couldn't find html in the insert menu. inside the box I created, I right clicked on selected html
then inside tag I put the code and saved the page name and file name as they requested....I guess the html thing I did was wrong...could you direct the blindingly obvious (I am sure) to the incrediably stupid(me)?
            Thanks again for your help!

the ROOT folder is where you INDEX PAGE lives.. so if you simply make a BV page... put NORTON FILE (that string of numbers they give you) in a text box.. save page as .. whatever NORTON page

I said HTML box because you said CODE.

PUBLISH IT.. it should work just fine.. dont ADD the html extension etc... bv will make it html
