Google Wins Legal Battle with Louis Vuitton

An EU court has rules in Google's favour in a trademark dispute involving LVMH, the brand owners of Louis Vuitton and a host of luxury brands.

LVMH contended that Google's practise of selling keywords of trademarked products infringed their rights. LVMH claims that the Internet market place is full of counterfeit goods and that Google was acting as a facilitator of such activity. An example was given of the term "Louis Vuitton Fakes".
Fortunately the Judge ruled in their favour. Although the case is likely to go for a more extended trial in 2010.
