Reaching search engines

Hi all,
Just finished my website and was wondering what is the best way to reach the search engines.
I see vodahost have an option and there are other sites that charge and some that you can submit with for free.
First site so totally new to this so any help would be great.

VodaHost will do a 'once only' submission to all the major search engines for you. You need to open a support ticket and request this service. After that they offer a professional service through VodaHits.

Submitting won't get your site found any earlier on the major se's. What will get you found are links back to your site from elsewhere on the net. So, if you can get a live, already found related site, to link back to you - that would be fastest. One way would be free ads in craigslist.com or backpage.com, others are newsletters, or reciprocal linking.
