Saved pages disappear

I'm getting the hang of setting up pages now and have an index page built and saved. Now I am building pages that will be linked to the index page, but when I save them, they do not show up in the folder withthe index file even though that is where they were saved.

What is going on and how do I correct it?

Unless you have poltergiests, the chances are you saved the pages
somewhere else on your computer. Do a search. Pages do not just vanish.
