I’ve had the “priviledge” of playing with Vista. The one interesting aspect was that we were using Vista 64 on a 64bit proc, and it really blew chunks. :(
However, if any of you have used Vista, or had access to it, it’s not too disimilar from Mac’s OS “X” platform. With the exception that it doesn’t have a Unix backbone. :( One can hope. LOL
    2. william
windows vista sucks most people who have pcs over 2 years can’t run vista what does microsoft think we are made of money
    3. Deputy Dog
Don’t buy it !!! Send Billy a message.Buy a MAC instead !!! Don’t let Hollywood dictate what you home PC can or can’t do !!!
    4. Vandal
Deputy Dog, That’s funny that you say “Don’t let Hollywood dictate what you home PC can or can’t do !!!” right after you say “Buy a MAC instead !!!”
Last time I checked, Mac is the only OS that ever shows up in movies. In any case, Windows Vista is a “Wholly ****! NIGHTMARE!” … You talk about wanting my $256 back really bad right about now. I could send you a boatload of error “snippets” that I’ve taken in Vista Home Premium in the past couple of hellish days since buying it. I’m almost in tears it’s so freakin’ bad. I have a nice clean version…still in the plastic…of WIN 95. I htink I’m going to install it on a dual boot just so I can use my computer again.
    5. ash
I have a dual core amd and 2 gigs of ram, at times it runs great. But 3 quarters of the time the system resources are such a hog that it is like i am running on a p3 with 256 mb of ram.Vista is **** right now and i hope for everyones sake microsoft addresses this issue in the near future, otherwise mac may be the way of the future. That would mist unfortunate cause all our computers would then look like a little childs computer.Don’t believe the hype of an os that has been put out 4 years before it was actually ready.
    6. Aaron Brazell
Funny, ash. My Mac doesn’t look anything like a child’s computer. What the hell are you smoking?

    7. Vandal
Well, I’m thinking that maybe Bill Gates took out stock in ***** and then put out Vista….or maybe he’s given up and has joined the Linux crowd. Fedora Core is looking pretty good to me right now. :o)
    8. Vizagg
CD burnt on Vista are having problem recognizing in Windows XP.
It says file is corrupted, etc. .. Ha Ha.. wasted two CDs..
They really need to think again.

    9. nalta
im getting vista soon and i plan on liking it mac sucks that do look like baby computers and the only reason people have troble with veista is because they bother to try it in a old peice of ****. by the way why do you have a mint coppr of win 95, Vandal did you get it with your computer???
    10. Aaron Brazell
I don’t know what the hell you just said, nalta. Do you know how to use a keyboard? Mac’s have keyboards you know.
    David Nick
ROFL! I was just going to ask the same thing Aaron

Dude…I hope u DON’T buy vista… this is the biggest **** ever created… and i know that cuz my ****y computer is a core 2 duo e6600 on my new evga/nvidia nForce 680i sli, 7800 gt on video and 2 gigs of crucial ballistix ddr2 1000 of ram… like 700+ gigs of hdd and all this ****py pieces buyed just with vista in mind… and the only thing vista do well is work as ****… nothing work on vista…
    14. shaz
    “learned”? don’t you mean learnt?
    15. opps
Oh **** you are all freaking me out. I just ordered a e66oo core 2 duo processor with the windows vista Ultimate. It arrives some time today. So You are saying without a doubt I made a big mistake on getting it. I just us it for fun at home surfing and ebaying. Why will I be hating it so much?????
    16. Vandal
opps, I don’t think you’ll hate it if you get a clean install and just use it for surfin and garb. My family’s been linkin’ it after I got everything running right on it. It just has some compatibility issues with some of the existing hardware on the market, like graphics cards and hard drives…nothing major. :o) Good luck with it though. The Media Center is pretty cool, but difficult to navigate around and slow at times.
    17. opps
    Vandal,
Thanks for letting me know that. I dont have any hardware I need to rely on. I will be back in a day or so to let ya know what I think of it.

    18. elias
can i uninstall vista and then install windows xp?
    19. David Nick
If you have to install vista, you’ve failed the test my young padawan learner

    cheers

    21. Keith Brooks
I purchased Vista Home Premium and it truly suck’s . Windows Update takes 8 or more times downloading updates to actually install them.
It has downloaded definition updates for Windows Defender and failed to install them for over 2 weeks.
The Free 3 Month’s of Tech Support that come’s with Vista is a joke. I e-mailed them last Sunday and still haven’t recieved any real answer’s or solutions for the numerous problem’s this o.s. has caused.

I ran the Upgrade Advisor at Microsoft’s website before Christmas and it said my p.c. could handle Vista Ultimate , if I removed X.P.’s Power Toys and updated my Video Card driver.
Now , I get error message’s when I try to use my Lexmark X7170 Printer ,
One Touch 2 portable H.D. and it also doesn’t recognize my T.V. tuner / F.M. radio card.

It recognized all this and said everything I just listed was compatible.
Did Microsoft change the Vista compatibilities since before Christmas when I ran there Upgrade Advisor at there Web Site for it .
What a joke and nightmare rolled into one.
P.S. If your considering Vista repeatedly rethink about it as Aero , User Account / Parental Control’s and Media Center aren’t worth the headache’s for the price any version of Vista cost’s.
Be very careful in your decision making , when it com’s to Vista as it could be another 5 years for the next version from Redmond .
    22. stooby
k i have no idea if anyone will respond to this but i will give it a shot. i bought my computer and it came with a free vista upgrade. i just got word that it is arriving in a week. i use the computer to listen to music, surf the net, and do school work. does anyone think i will get a headache from using vista for these things?
    23. Frustrated
I just got a DELL computer with a Vista upgrade. I got it through RentaCenter so didn’t have the option of whether or not I wanted the free upgrade. It’s horrible! It freezes all the time, takes forever to load ANYTHING, even My Computer, and I keep getting timeouts on several sites I am trying to load. I do not have an XP CD to reload. Is there a way to obtain one without spending a lot of money on it? Thanks.
    24. RyanDigitalArtist
WINDOWS VISTA IS NOT ****, its just a long way from finished, what they seemed to have done was release the beta in the form of a final copy. AND WHAT THE HELL PEOPLE –> dont you remember when xp came out, it had a million more problems than vista has now. Never forget the past, wait a year then buy it, they should have the major bugs fixed by then and then all will be good.
    25. David Nick
    Say RyanDigitalArtist?
If all we had in this country to drive were Ford Escorts or Yugo’s and you didn’t own a Yugo because it wasn’t well known, so Escorts were your thing, and then because of the lack of diversity you were forced to endure malfunctions, driving along at highway speeds when suddenly your car ****s out on you, and each 5 years you waited for a new version of an escort only to see the same damn thing happen….tell me…how long you’d defend Ford because their last Escort had the same problems and it only took them 5 years to work the kinks out?
Seems to me your are defending the indefensible. There is no reason to release Vista when it’s obviously flawed while they have XP and in its current state seems to work. Why not focus on fixing the problems and security with the current one rather than force us to swallow yet another mega-blunder?
    Strange eh?
    26. RyanDigitalArtist
this is a fallacy, you make references to something completely different, if you dont want to use vista, dont, but the people who do will tell microsoft what the problems are and help them finish it off even faster. Macs have horrible functionality, they are great with interface, but they never fix the glitches like most adobe programs crashing every day even on new macs. or that damn spinning pza wheel of death. or that damn “unexpectedly quit” message.
i personally like macs, but for my purposes a pc works better. both have equal failings and equal strengths. and being a digital artist i know i need to use both when checking a website for errors…
    27. Aaron Brazell
Ryan: Say what? You think most of the people using Vista are going to “tell Microsoft what’s wrong”. Do you think most of the people whole know what was wrong if it smacked them in the face? How many people using Vista do you support on a daily basis? When most people can’t figure out how to make hidden files and folders visible, do you really think they are going to know what to tell Microsoft?
Of course not. All they will know is it’s broke. That’s always how it is. And if they DO know what is wrong, how are they going to “tel Microsoft”? Dr. Watson…. that works. :\ Calling support? Right… Emailing them? Okay.
    Get real.
Vista is NOT ready for prime time. And I’m hearing that from everyone except Microsoft Corporate.
    28. RyanDigitalArtist
even i dont like vista, but i like what it will be soon, but to give up on it without giving it a decent chance is idiotic, you are an immature child, no matter your age, and i pitty you. this is my last comment, im tired of the lack of intelligent debate…
    29. Aaron Brazell
What do you think this is ****ing MySpace? Dude - this is intelligent conversation and it’s unfortunate that you’re thick skulled enough not to realize that?
    30. David Nick
    ROFLMAO!
you are an immature child, no matter your age, and i pitty you. this is my last comment, im tired of the lack of intelligent debate…
So intelligent debate is when everyone just complies with what you say and we all go along to get along?
    Who’s being absurd now?

Zlatko, I mean, I don't have that much time to read all of it there but I read the starting, guessing you got this from a forum right?

Mostly it is people who hate Microsoft and like ***** better or had a bad experience with Mircosoft in the past. There is nothing wrong with Windows Vista, it is an amazing operating system - also, Microsoft is so convinced that their new Vista is so good, they don't even expect to make a Service Pack.
      Best regards,

I know Jeremy it’s will be better, Microsoft still have problems today with XP
Pack 2 and design to fast new operating system. But on the internet you have today 40% broke people and this people can buy every year new system or new PC.

I just bought a Compaq Presario V6210US Notebook loaded with Vista Home Premium. So far so good. Until I get use to how to find everything, I still have my desktop running to. I figure I'll teach myself Vista on my notebook first. I like the fact that I can switch to the Classic version (xp) in some of the menus to figure out where I am! lol Anyway, I really like my notebook and so far, I like Vista! Just my 2 cents.

I'm with you! Navigation in Vista is much easier, although it takes a minute to realize that because it's so different. I don't miss XP one little bit.

I believe you need realplayer for .ra file extensions, and maybe its not included in the install of vista.

Re: Windows Vista - BlueVoda - What's new

i rejected vista while i had xp, mostly coz the old laptop didn't have the
power or memory for it, plus reading some poor reviews

old xp laptop motherboard went bad
new laptop only came with vista
but i found a site that knew a lot about xp and vista
they convinced me m/s had worked out 99% of vista issues and was not a monster

have had the new laptop 2 mos. now and it took a while but i really like vista, either that or the new laptop's power !
vista does things a little different but once learned no problems
it does a lot more stuff automatically always watching out for security

it asks you a lot to approve actions, which at first was annoying, but then i realized it was making me more aware of my actions, less likely to say yes too quickly and then regret it

all my old software and anti virus, spyware works just fine in vista including BV, except one cc leaner instance

i used the registry cleaner in it in xp no problem
but in vista it removed some key files like chkdsk and i had to reload vista
hopefully by now cc leaner and ms have work out the differences
but the result is now i am really conscious about my registry cleaning
which i knew i should have been all along

my vista is very stable and there are a lot of operational improvements that make life easier. and excuse me for being sense oriented, i like the eye candy improvements as well

i don't think vista is designed for computers with less than 2gb ram and sufficient hard drive space

but if you have to get a new unit do not be afraid of having to go with vista

                      hope this is helpful,
