I'm trying to upload an avatar in my forum but I'm not having any luck. I can browse and go find the picture I would like to use but I have not figured out how to upload it in to my avatar gallery. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I tried just hitting the submit button after selecting my avatar but that did not work.

I would check the size, there are size limitations for avatars .... perhaps that is it??

Well I thought that the image I had chosen was small enough. Turned out it was just a little to big. Thanks for the help.

Re: Can Not Upload Avatar
What problem are you having? Did you check your admin area where you give permissions for this kind of thing? Since its been redone.. your permissions etc could have been changed..so go back thru and check the forum settings for this and rather or not personal avatars or custom avatars are allowed.

Re: Can Not Upload Avatar
Yeap. The only way was via 'photobucket'. Have some photos there. Did the same with the avatar and in the forum copied the link.
Don't know why but I can't upload anything to the forum (avatar) from my computer.
Anyway...it's going now! thanks.

Re: Can Not Upload Avatar
Most likely its in your user settings somewhere or the folder has the permissions set to reject it. I cant tell u without logging in and looking.. and I dont get paid to troubleshoot.

Re: Can Not Upload Avatar
No.. should be 755.. 777 will kick in the security and make it unaccessible.

Re: Can Not Upload Avatar
Hi Karen,
Have tried again....have been going for a few hours now and I believe that it has something to do with the 'permissions'.
Have set up for 'registred users' the 'standard + polls'.
Don't know what else to try. All the 'forum' , 'image' 'avatar' files are set to 755.
You can see on the link below the nzbr flashing, because it's via link.
the tournz registred member uploaded it and it's not there (the 2nd post)
Have been to cpanel...publichtml>>>>>images>>>>avatar>>>upload and the pictures are there with the right permission (755). But it's just not showing in the forum.
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot!

Re: Can Not Upload Avatar
Somewhere in your forum settings is a place that gives permissions to upload images, and also image sizes. I cant remember where it is exactly without looking at a phpbb forum backend.. but thats where your issue is.. try GROUP permissions. Ie: registered users and see if its in there.
