Do other country's have a boxing day?

Was curious to know if other country’s like the US have a boxing day like the UK (The 26th December)????

• In Britain many years ago, it was common practice for the servants to carry boxes to their employers when they arrived for their day's work on the day after Christmas. Their employers would then put coins in the boxes as special end-of-year gifts. This can be compared with the modern day concept of Christmas bonuses. The servants carried boxes for the coins, hence the name Boxing Day.
• In churches, it was traditional to open the church's donation box on Christmas Day, and the money in the donation box was to be distributed to the poorer or lower class citizens on the next day. In this case, the "box" in "Boxing Day" comes from that one gigantic lockbox in which the donations were left.

In Canada, we have a boxing day..........celebrated with boxing day sales & specials......come on out and buy some more. lol (Not me, I'm done) Lots of pushing and shoving going on, line-ups everywhere........no returns on this day.......as the stores try to squeeze every last nickle from you, with visions of 75% off everything.

In South Africa we have the traditional English boxing day, just as you escribed. Of course South Africa was an English Colony so that explains the influence.

In Jamaica we ahve boxing day and usually just an extra day for fun and sun at the beach or at home sleeping...lol.

lol CL .... you're just a day early .... they're closed .... tomorrow though, won't be me though .... on christmas eve the stores looked like a war zone, can't imagine there is too much of anything left.
