    The Weather

Yes, the weather. How is the weather your way? It sprinkled here and was a bit nippy.

The daffodils are in full bloom in southern NH, the violets are up already, the trees are flowering, forsythia is in full bloom. Everything is slightly different the more south you go in NH.

Where we are the crocuses are just finishing, the daffodils are'nt quite in full bloom, but opening up. What a difference an hour's drive makes.

Oh, and the yard boy never came! Not that I minded, lol.

We start early, but then we end sooner - if you like spring. Daffodils are long gone-red azaleas have given way to pink and white- peonies are up and budded out- dogwoods just finished- clematis is blooming. Pool at 73.

    Where is Amanda's wisteria?

83 and sunny two days in a row.

It sounds like we have a climate and seasons very like New Hampshire. Forsythia is out in full golden glory, early cream blossoms are well out and giving way to the first pinks. Daffodils are still going strong whilst Crocus are shrivelling up now. Lol. Furry ***** Willow is no longer furry! Lol. My potted Lilies are about eight inches green and the Wisteria, again potted, is getting lots of spring green shoots. I am still waiting for it to flowers. I will be transplanting it this year so hope for flowers next. The most awesome sight at the moment are the Magnolia trees, laden with huge egg shaped flowers ready to open any day now. They are so stunning. It is still chilly in the evenings, down to one degree last night. As they say over here 'ne'er cast a clout until May is out'!

Tuesday - rain. I live at a high elevation in the mountains of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont..need I say more?....lol..yes for those who dont know the location - If you have ever heard of lake effect snow/well Ive created a new meterology term...mountain effect snow...if there is any moisture at all its in snow form..its like living in a virtual snow globe!
The snow comes early and leaves late. So at this point there is still small patches deep in the woods of snow - the temp is running around 30 - 50 degrees during night/day. But spring is trying to spring! And the rains we are having at this time will pop the little ground growth and encourage the buds to stick the noses apart from the branches! I have been visited by three wise wild turkeys feasting on leftover seeds that helped the chicadees bare a cold and blustery winters day!
SO - what does one do while spending so much time in the cold snow? Well - - -
              you create!...lol

It's grey. The oil refinery is casting an enchanting mist, whilst the power station gives an ambient glow.

                        Re: The Weather

Winter is officially over! Just come back from putting the horses out for the summer and wow, what a sight! Rushed straight from work, but boy was it worth it! My girl was the worst of the lot to put out (too strong for me to take at the moment), and they all flew off bucking, rearing, kicking up their heels (and that was my mare before she even got to her field), rolling - then heads down and chomping the grass as if someone was going to take them in again any minute.

7 fields horsed, then peace reigned. Only sound chomping grass or the thunder of hooves for a second as they work out the pecking orders (most with the same companions they were with the year before.

Now we can really start to look forward to those long hot days, barmy evenings, stomping out to get in muddy horses through the pouring rain.... but you get the idea! Wonderful. Summer has come!

Oh, and more good news (if you like animals), a pony who was only given 25% chance of survival two years ago, and was brought home from the vets as they could do nothing more for her, has flourished in the love and care she has received and has made a miraculous recovery. Today she was ridden again for the first time in 2 years - something no one expected ever to be able to do again! Lovely, eh?

                        I'm happy

Amanda, I like that phrase, had never heard it before. That's about when we plant in NH.

Trish, it does sound lovely where you are. Such good news about the sick pony. What a fantastic recovery.

Kate, I can relate, we're close to Concord, snow's been gone for some time, but we sure did get a lot over the winter. Not near as much as you did I imagine. My sister-in-law wintered here for the first time in over 20 yrs. Seeing winter through her eyes was magical and fun.

Hello to everyone else. What a good idea it was to start about the weather.

I needed some good news. Plus we got the great news today: our very best friend is going to pull through from his 2nd pacemaker surgery. He collapsed at our house and hasn't been home for almost two weeks, almost died. Just like the flowers he's blooming splendidly!

What a great thread, I love you all.

Jonquils - buttercups have been and gone - azaleas bloomed and were at their peak last week - kind of sad today :) - I've never been this far south for a winter and had flowers this early!

Cindy, that is fabulous news about your friend.

Also, I'm going to be in NH all summer - maybe we'll be able to meet sometime! That would be so cool to meet someone from this forum.
