Why this country sometime being called England, United Kingdom (UK), Britain, Britania, Great Britain.... And
Why they use their flags differently, usually The Union Jack but in the football worldcup their flag is with white back ground and a red cross?

conventional long form: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; note - Great Britain only includes England, Scotland, and Wales.
conventional short form: United Kingdom
abbreviation: UK

Britain is just a shortened name.

England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and all the other islands each have their own National flags. England's is the red cross on a white background. Scotland is a white X on a blue background etc.. The UK flag - sometimes referred to as the 'Union Jack' is a culmination of the national flags of the member countries.

I thought i would just butt in and say hello. I was thinking today how nice it would be to get chicken and remember the discussion about kfc - i thought i wonder if they have 'nandos' in other countries?

We have Nandos Chicken Restaurants - the home of Portuguese Peri-peri grilled chicken. There aren't that many yet though. They have a really cool website! LOL http://www.nandos.co.uk

Yeah I loved spiced food but I have to say there is somehting to be said for a nice Yorshire pudding and beef wellington (when done right). THat is english ..right? I'd be feeling seeepppish if I've been thinking that al these years and it wasn't....LOL

ALso gotta love tea time ...with tea sandwiches and crumpets etc....yummy...I LOVE the IDEA of HIGH TEA...can't wait to do it some time at some nice posh restaurant...hehehe

Yup, it's English. LOL A nice roast dinner is lovely, as is a potato hash, or beef stew and dumplings, but spicy, or herby, is much more exciting on the palate. My favourites are Indian, Italian, Thai, Caribbean, Mexican and Cajun! How's that? LOL Actually, I just love cooking and making new dishes up.

If you get over here, Beez, you have to try a Cornish cream tea, which is fresh scones, strawberry jam (jelly) and Cornish clotted cream. Served with a nice pot of (hot) English tea!

Forget it ...i'm never dieting again...I'm pleasing plum and happy as long as I get to eat yumy stuf like this...I will try it the scones and clotted cream....had heard of clotted cream and I love scones....

I love experimental cooking...always making up new dishes and trying them on my family..usually keep some antacid around for the not so successful attempts...LOL.....but most often turns out good.

I'm really going to have to get my recipe page more active...just sitting there now....lazybones that I am....lol
