    One's laurels must be the bum, because any time someone says of someone else, they are resting on their laurels, it seems to mean they never get off their bums.

    No it has nothing to do with your bum lol

    Its something to do with the greeks and Laurels leaves, the greeks made a crown of laurel leaves to the winner of the errrrr games .....(forgot the name)....a very special honour ...so to rest on your laurels is to live off your achievement ...thinking that you dont have to do anymore effort cos youve already achieved it...something like that anyway lol

                Thats a fine switch, Jane. Being acronem challenged It's usually me who dosen't understand. It was all a pun.
                Resting on laurels= loss of ambition due to past accomplishments
                laureates= collage graduates
                look to your laurels= beware of being overtaken by subordinates
