Today I heard a young mother reprimanding her son for kneeling down and playing with some soil that was surrounding a public hedge.
She was saying that it was dirty and he will get ill.
When I was a kid we lived in the soil and in sand-pits and up trees etc and generally did not care about any of the above.
Only (fairly) recently has TV advertising and documentaries began telling us about how dangerous germs can be and I am in disbelief at the people who fall for it. It is all just scaremongering. Keeping your child in a sterile enviroment means that they could grown up with an under developed immunity system.
This is how bad things have got...
We we live in a world where they sell Domesdos that kills 99% of all known germs but then they sell the good germs back to you in bottles of Pro-biotic Actimel Drink.
I struggle to comprehend the people that fall for it, foooools hahaha.
