Yep.. Quitting sounds like a good idea..

      1. I tried to quit, but I discovered that I am addicted (drug reliant), I am now considering taking up 'Heroin' instead, it works out cheaper..
      2. The government says they made cigarettes so expensive because smoking kills.. It costs less money to produce the same amount of 'Anthrax' to the amount of tobaco in a packet of cigarettes.. That amount of anthrax has the potential to kill every living human in a country the size of Vietnam.

Tis a good thing for me that I live in an area where tobacco farms are numerous. NC and SC are known for tobacco and a few other crops that my brain dead head cant remember ...

              What were we talking about?
              Who said that?
              Whaaaa?
              Smoke Break!

I quit once for 7 years....still now only smoke 10 or less a day, but if I hope to remarry my HeartMaster, I need to quit entirely.
I have come to the conclusion that I have not found an acceptable means to deal with stress yet, so as long as I am a "VH Webbie" I'll be puffing away....

                Re: Fuel Prices ...

Just an update of a 20/25% increase in fuel to last time we spoke.

                Diesel £1.28 per liter
                Super Unleaded £1.20 per liter

                UK/Unleaded £1.15 per liter
                UK/Unleaded £1.15 per liter (& higher) x 3.79liters = 1 US gal = £4.36 x $1.96 = $8.55 per US gal. (I hope my sums are right)

What would the US citizens do if the politicians tried this price on you.
                Regards Chris.

Happily drift toward anarchy? Lynching? Pretty please!

Back in 1976, 'petrol' was $4.85/l in Norway and $0.65-95/g in the US.

Just filled up my "modest" 17 gallon tank at $4.91/gallon (SF Bay Area), which happens to be the current price of a gallon of milk in Hawaii, also due to "fuel surcharges."

The new US parity rings hollow indeed, just like the vast majority of more than half-empty gas tanks sloshing down the highways.....

Ah! Good. I wont feel guilty about starting a Lynch mob & digging up Guy Fawkes to give a hand. LOL.
I have even noticed that a branded bottled water is the same price as fuel now days. I recon the politicians know something about a hydrogen break through that they don’t want us to know.

Look at us .. we are growing so quickly too .. LOL

Today's best 10 gas stations with the cheapest prices near you, in Halifax, NS. GasBuddy provides the most ways to save money on fuel.

I won't do the math but I think we might be in worse shape ..

Likely because of all the natural gas they found here in NS and gave to our friends .. LOL ..

It is not just fuel prices, gas and electric is set to rise 40% by the end of next year, something has to give as people will just not be able to afford to live. The days of the man going out to work and the woman being a housewife are nearly over, it really does take two wages to pay the bills these days. Not sure where the answer is coming from.

Fuel prices (while outrageous compared to "same time last year"), are not our biggest concern here in the USA. The presidential candidates have no problem discussing this subject...while letting the real issues fall by the wayside....

Hi Trish, The petrol site below has saved me so much on fuel that I pop to the pub to have two pints on the saving.(Only 2 mind). So not all is bad. LOL. Both these UK sites below are very good & don’t bombard you with junk (Which is nice) I get an email once a week with all updates on local fuel/property prices like the fuel one 1 listed below. http://www.petrolprices.com/ http://www.ourproperty.co.uk/

                                Hi Chris,

Yes I can verify from our recent trip to the UK that everything there seems to cost about the same in pounds that we pay in dollars. I paid $4.07 a gallon yesterday to fill up my truck and while in the UK we paid about the same in pounds for our hired car - over $8.00 US.

A Burger KIng burger (didn't eat any - just checked the prices) that costs $3.95 here is L3.95 there.

With the rise of fuel of course all prices are going up - notably food and utilities. Makes one wonder how working folks in either of our countries will manage.

Recession? If it ain't one yet it sure feels like it. Terrorism? Just squeeze the life out of us with the manipulation of oil.... (with our complicity as far as the US is concerned) At least in the UK (and all of Europe I suppose) you drive sensible vehicles... our hired car got more than 40 mpg. There are 4 sale signs on half of the suvs and big trucks one sees on the road here nowadays.

If there hadn't been women we'd still be squatting in a cave eating raw meat, because we made civilization in order to impress our girl friends. And they tolerated it and let us go ahead and play with our toys. Orson Wells
