Storing my website

Hi everyone,

I have one quick question that I really hope someone can help me with.

Q: Would I encounter any problems if I were to store my BV website pages on an external hard drive. The reason for this is that in the near future I will need to use multiple computers to design, develop and maintain my BV website.

I personally cannot see any problems with this but if I have overlooked something I would like to know before I start publishing my website!

i have a similiar issue. i've done all my current work and saving on my desktop, but will soon get a new computer. i figure something like downloading bv to the new puter and then using the file manager to download the webpage files to a new directory in the C drive for the new tower.

about right..or something?

Thanks for the quick responses.

beebrothers: what you have described is exactly the same situation I am in, however I have not yet developed much of my website and so am planning to transfer all my BV work from my current computer and onto an external hard drive (along with all my website images etc). When I get my new computer, I am then planning on only using my external hard drive to design, develop, publish and then maintain my website once it is online.

Will this work?

What you need to do - is make sure that the path will read identical to the server when you publish - so that it reads the external drive the same. Sometimes when you go from one computer to another, it names the path differently. Get the path named the same and it will be no problem.

but, how do i get the files in the public_html folder to the new memory source?

or do i use the ftp manager, but not everything is in there....no that wont work they are .php files...i'm lost, or is it a daaaaaaaa moment

I was speaking of the files you currently are storing on your computer, which would be the bv program and your .bvp files. The ones in public_html are on the server side.
