Clarify some of this hosting and internet stuff.

    Hey, computer people and gurus,

I've asked some of these questions before, and, if they were answered, I can't find them. But, then again,l sometimes, I can't find my glasses. At any rate, within the next few days, I am going to sign up with VodaHost. My web site will not be ready to go, however, as I understand it, I first have to sign up, in order to get it fully functional, re' the C control panel. Here are a few questions, and there are more to come.

If I switch my domain name to BV, do I have to pay the difference in price that it cost me, and what BV charges for a DN?
What is a support ticket, and why do I need one?
What is a DEDICATED IP address?
Does my domain name have to be transfered to my host? If so, why? If not, why not? What do they mean when they say you can direct your domain name to your host?

    Thanks in Advance,

Hi, signing up for a voda hosting account allows you an unlimited amount of domains in the one hosting account, provided they are all in your name.

You can transfer a domain to voda hosting that you may have registered elsewhere. An additional step is required, after you have a voda hosting account, you can apply for a domain transfer. As I said this is another step, and you will need to request this and wait for an email to be sent to you and you will need to respond to this email in order for this domain transfer request to happen.

As an alternative, a domain can be left at your current domain registrar and it can be simply pointed to your voda host servers. These servers will be given to you when you order a voda hosting account.

When you order a voda hosting account, you are given an option for either a free domain domain or a free domain transfer. If you want to use the domain you have already, then when you order your account, choose the option "I have my own domain name" - after you receive your account then ask for a domain transfer.

If this domain is currently active, you will want to have your new website built with blue voda, ready to publish when this all comes together so that you do not suffer any down time on your website.

You will only need a dedicated server if you are going to have an ecomm site.

Thank you, LadyEye. I have to digest this, as well as other info I have been acquiring. Will have a lot more questions in near future. In meantime, my ISP has been working on updating lines, and as a result, I have telephone and internet interruption. This has been going on for almost two weeks, and is supposed to continue for that much time again. So, I hope I don't lose any info, and if a reply is expected, that is my reason.
