I am curious as to "capture" and tracking of site visitors. How does that work, and how is it implemented on the site?

Well you need to install a stat counter of sorts .. not just a visitor counter.. or set up stats for your main domain in cpanel. Stat Counter.com has a good lil freebie as well as google analytics. By placing code on your site/pages you deposit a cookie on the browser that is viewing your site/pages and they are able to track and record this information. You then are able to take this information and measure your effectiveness or lack of effectiveness IE: how long they stay, which pages they travel to, where they come in at, where they leave at etc.
