I have a question registered on your help site (JFO-977135). My question...when I was registering, the amount proposed to bill to my visa included a charge for $19.95 for my new domain. I thought the $19.95 was waived for a new account?

Yes but you answered incorrectly... It is TRADEMARKED in the other instance. And in this instance also. Its enough alike the original that it implies they are the original company and could take business away simply by use of the name.

Re: Free Domain name for new account
Just to follow up on this folly, It doesn't matter if it is registered or not. Case in point... Located on the beach, Gold Coast Aust. is a business that has been operating for 20+ years. It's name? "Hungry? Eat at Jacks"
Then along came a spider and sat down beside Joe, setting up a business across the road called.. you guessed it, "Hungry Jacks" (this is an Aussie version of a major hamberger chain) No problem for Joe the local hamberger man, but the chain decided to close him down unless he changed his name because it too closely resembled theirs, even though Joe was there 20 years before McJacks! Given the fact that McJacks had far superior resources and could ground our 'local' into 100% minced beef, it was not looking good for Joe but he fought on.
After 2 years of fighting this David & Gollioth battle, Joe was successful. But only because of the overwhelming local support for joe and widespred negative media that landed on the big guy.
Joe was lucky. It is quite legal for any established business/organization to take you on if they feel you are profiting from their presence in the market place, their interlectual property, branding, similarity, look, feel, flavour, touch, smell, colour, type-face or anything else that they decide to take offence at.
Generally, they will squash you like a bug. After all, what are the guys on the top 3 legal floors doing for their corporate masters if not justifying their wages. So, take this cup of folly, don't seek to *****-angle anyone, just go ahead and make money under your own label. Perhaps in the end 'walmart' may even buy you out under favorable terms.
Good Luck
Glen
