If I sign-up, will cookies be placed on my visitors' harddrives without my knowledge (turning visitors into victims)

1) No ads at all, You only get that type of stuff from a free hosting service.

3) Yes cookies are placed in on your visitors hard drives, This is part
of your statistical package so you can count your visitors vs. return
visitors, etc...You can turn this off if you like but its very useful for you.

And, thanks to the sign at the bowling alley, I now know what a "settee area" is. (I was picturing an area filled with those half chair/half couch lounger things with no arm on one side and a back rest for an arm on the other, aka "fainting couch"). I didn't know that settee could also refer to a davenport.
Found this out along with it: Tthe word "couch" was originally coined in the 18th century to refer to the type of settee I described above.
