  • Political content or sombre content allowed?

I am a writer and poet and wish to, when updating my site, dedicate part of the site to my writings and poetry.

    There are 2 "issues":
    - part of the content has political undertones and I would like to explain my own political ideals on the site to explain readers where the inspiration comes from. My political ideals are in the left wing, and nowadays in Europe (I don't know how the situation is in the States) so******m has a bad undertone. Can I nonetheless write and publish articles on subjects such as capital punishment, abortion, LGBT rights, etc on the site without violating any rules? Can I publically state my political orientation without violating any rules? (if I'd be on the right I'd not worry about this, but as I said, so******ts have a hard time in Europe these days)

    - some of my poetry is quite gloomy and sombre, partially because writing is an outlet for me when I go through depression, and partially because I use a lot of metaphores. I would add on the page that my poetry would never encourage any self-harming or so and that if any somewhat eerie word is used, it is likely to be a metaphor. After all, I don't want readers to misinterpretate my writings.
However, is the publishing of dark/gloomy artistic content not violating any rules?

So openly admitting I support the far left (some would call it communism, I would rather say staunch so******m but that's food for another discussion and way off-topic here :)) and gloomy poetry is no problem at all?

I would on the website make a disclaimer stating that parts of the site are of political nature or may contain poetry that some would consider gloomy or depressive in undertone. I would clearly state that I don't wish to offend anyone by publishing my opinions and that my writings are simply outings of my emotions written during a period of depression ; and that if someone prefers to not read this content he can skip that part of the website and go to the more "innocent subjects" (= non political, non gloomy) covered on the site. I would clearly state on the site that I wish to not offend anyone with any of the political or sombre content.

Re: Political content or sombre content allowed?

Sorry to get back on this but I read the absolutely unacceptable content would be:

              "IRC Bots
              Warez Sites
              Pirated Software
Underage Pornography (Kiddie Porn, Child Porn)
Hate sites - Nazis, KKK, religious extremists & fascists, anti-democratic groups, etc......
              Hacked programs and archives"

Now this is open for interpretation. It was stated that political content was OK but where is the line drawn? For example if someone supports a one party state like it exists in China, is that against the rules to write that or is this not considered "anti-democratic groups" because it is only the webmaster citing his personal opinion without calling for any illegal action?

No, there is no room for interpretation at all: as a leading internet Hosting Provider based in the US, we fully comply with the Patriot, CanSpam, and Personal Identity and Financial Information Protection Acts and require the same from all clients and Forum members without exception.

The full Acts in their current versions are available online (do a Google Search) for your careful review.
