Can a custom form act as a shopping cart? link to payment gateway?

My site requires teams/individuals to "register' and pay online. Can I customize a shopping cart for this?

Sure you can customize anything you want if you know how, and how to conform it to your gateway standards and ssl encryption etc. Basically a shopping cart does this and you would just attatch the form with the info you need. Soho does this pretty easily.
