editing hiccups

Hi there,
My 12 year daughter has just shown me how to add links to other sites using html, in html mode on text editor. This I can now do- woop de doo! Trouble is, why am I getting my whole page dropping down; as in multiple page/line breaks at the top of page. I just can't get rid of them, and they look rubbish. Any advise on this would be most welcome. Thanks folks.

Thanks for your quick reply. my website is www.myadoradesign.com
The pages are USEFUL LINKS, which has a huge gap at the top, and I did no html editing on that, but figured I must have done soemthing wrong, so I then started a new links page-LINKS. This is the one where I did put external links on with html, so I'm a bit befuddled as to what has gone wrong. Many thanks for taking the time to look.
PS. I did try and create a link to take you straight there, but when I tried it, the pages viewed differently, so I thought it best for you to see in real time. Hope this is clear enough.
