Os Commerce install

hi all,

i am currently trying to setup Os commerce to the site instead of using zen cart but everytime is set the cart up i get this error

Server Requirement Error: register_globals is disabled in your PHP configuration. This can be enabled in your php.ini configuration file or in the .htaccess file in your catalog directory

i really am unsure of how to correct this issue so any help would be greatly appreciated
