Brand New Website (2 seconds old)

    Hi everyone!

I'm super excited to finally get my website out there, and I could use some feedback on what to fix.

Currently, I have one thing on the agenda, and that's to do something about the Cardcaddie.ca logo in the top left hand corner - need to figure out how to get a transparent background.

Any and all feedback would be much appreciated!!

nice. Site is clean, colors are nice.
One thing. I don't think I would put the google ad links in your header - it almost makes it seem like they are links within your site, and then they take you offsite - too easy to lose a customer..

Have a look at the thread about paint.net to see about making a transparancy, I think you can do it with that program, and it is free..

    good luck, good start.
ps - you know your links go nowhere yet, yes?

      Hey Liz

      Thanks for your feedback.

I think I'll keep the google ads up there for now. If someone is really serious about buying the product, they'll just hit their "back" button.

I'm trying to figure out why my links aren't working. I've adjusted all of my menus so that they all end in .html but when I publish, it doesn't update on the internet.. hmm..

      Thanks again,

at the moment I can't see your home page, just get a list when I hit the link, but when I look at your other pages on the list, it looks like you have used capital letters in naming them - i,e, Productinfo
Anyway, try no caps, sometimes that helps.

I take that back, not the issue.

You must have republished your home page and renamed it - and it can't be seen because it is no long index - you now made it Index - which won't work. Republish as index, and your home page will come up again - and go in and delete out the Index page.

              Hi Cardcaddie
I did you a couple of logos with transparent background at

Just right click and save as gif.
They will help out a bit until you figure it out for yourself.
I use animation Shop which comes with Paint Shop Pro.

Thanks so much for all your help everyone! I'm not sure how I managed to mess up the index part of the website, but it seems to be working again.

Roy, thanks for the logo. It will do till I can get exactly what I want.

Now that you all can see my whole website, what do you think?

                  About Your Logo....

If you have created this using simple text in another program, you should merely *******te it in BV using a "text box" and after selecting your desired font, size, and color, merely make sure you select AUTO as the text box background (found in Properties). This makes it "transparent" as you desire.

Using a simple text-based font like this is more SE-friendly, and adds another qualifying metric toward your overall relevancy.

                    Hi Vas

Thanks for the input. When I created the Card Caddie logo, I made sure it was on auto for background.. in fact, it was the default setting. Which is why i'm surprised it's not transparent.

                      Hi.
Then something was not selected properly....there is no way if Textbox backgrounds are set and saved as "Automatic" for it to come up with a white background......really!

I would go through the process again super-methodically just to make sure I was not developing Alzheimers! LOL
Maybe re-loading BV is in order if it is not performing as designed?

I found a way around the logo problem. I copied the page of BV (print screen) and opened it in Paint.net. From there, I just selected the portion of the logo I couldn't get transparent (it was transparent on the editing screen), and saved it to my computer.

After that, it was just a matter of adding the new picture to the webpage, and placing it in the spot where the logo was.

I agree that your actual placement of Google Ads is irregular, and does not lend to visitor-friendly navigation.

Your novel solution (process, that is) for your logo should have also been an opportunity to refine your choice of legible font for your "slogan" line.

Lastly, your average load time is far too thwarted due to your images not being properly reduced in file size. You may wish to utilize VodaHost's Pix resizer to remedy this anomoly quickly and easily.

Thanks for that program Heart. I resized the picture of the truck so it shouldn't take as long to load. At the same time, I got rid of the Adsense as I've had a couple comments about it already.

Not sure about the logo.. to me it looks fine, and I haven't had any other comments about it.

Does the site take less time to load now?
