    time to download

    Hi guys,
A little help would be great, it will only take you a few seconds, I hope. Can you give me some feedback as to how long my website take to load the 1st page. Also, how long should it normally take to get a page up using a broadband connection. A friend has just told me it took 15 seconds?.

    Thanks for your help.

I have dsl as well... about 3 seconds. Many folks don't have dsl and your photos are big. Did you use the pixresizer?

            Thanks,
I did use pix re-sizer. I set them at 600 x 450. I could do with a few tests please. dsl is fine but i need feedback for slower connections.

              Re: time to download

Here is an on-line image optimizer .... It allows you to input your photo and choose the quality and will show you the the file size ... your photos are still 100 kb ... still the file size is a bit too large for slower loading machines ... give this a try ....

You can test the speed connection by loading your page, choosing to edit with "Microsoft Front Page" and down on the bottom right of that page you will find connection times for all connection types ....

              Hope this helps ....

              156 secs over a 56K
              64 over isdn

You should shoot for (imo) about 20 secs or less over isdn .....

Good Luck with your optimization ..... it is important ....

                  Hi Dave

I see you have been working on your photos, they are still a little large, it really helps, especially where you have more than one photo on your page, to have the photos reduced to around 20 kbs or so ...

You might want to think about using a smaller image, and then being able to click the image for a larger view, that is an idea for you ....

Here is a sample of a smaller image I was able to reduce to just below the 20 kb mark ....
