    New banners -headers

When I made my site I chose not to use templates, this was because I couldn't find anything that was me. So I just created my pages uses shapes to start with and insert text.

Now that my site is up and running and I have even got a few backlinks, I have decided to get out the camera and use my photo's to make banners or headers what ever you call them.

As i am a little new to this I need some feedback. How do they look and do they take too long to download. I make them all using my photos and then tweak them in photoshop - which I don't know much about.
These three have the new headers

    This is my home page.

    Re: New banners -headers

Hi, I assume you mean the headers on your pages? If so, you have done a real good job with the loading times & looks of the original image. The only thing you need to do is avoid using the handle tabs to make the image fit the head of the page, this has a bad habit of distorting parts of the image, especially the text areas on it. If you can? Try sizing in photo shop to your page width.
Besides this! A real nice job.

      Hi outbackjackie,
The most common advice around here (and that's what I did) is that you should build your page from the left towards the right side without passing the 800 mark. To see this mark 'line' you go: Lay Out>>>Guide settings>>>Show Grid. After that you go in 'page properties' and ckeck the box ' center in browser'. While you are there you set up: Width: 800, Height:600.
This way you page will be centered and people don't need to scroll it side ways. It's ok going down to see all the contents.

I Know it's hard to fit everything up to the 800 mark, but after doing that, I think the page looks more professional. Just my opinion.lol

      Cheers,

As long as we're still focusing on the basics, you might as well keep in mind that each site should only be presented once in the Showcase, and this is the third on this single Forum page so far....

It is not only easier to follow all the evolutions of your site, but allows others context for their own progress if kept in a single thread!

        See Forum Rules
This forum is for VodaHost customers to display their websites.
        Please do not....
        1) Ask any VodaHost or BlueVoda help or support related questions here.
        2) Promote your website on somebody elses thread.
        3) Do not start more than one thread about your site.
        4) Say anything negative or mean about somebody's site. Constructive criticism is great and encouraged, but being deliberately nasty will not be tolerated.

        And last but not least

        5) DO NOT post any site that is not hosted with VodaHost. The only
excepetion to this rule is if you are member of the VodaHost affiliate
program and you have a VodaHost banner on your Homepage.
        6) DO NOT list any site that offers a direct competition to any site
that is owned and operated by VodaHost web hosting.
