    Ready for review!!!

    Hello Everyone,

First of all I'd like to thank everyone on here for all of their expertise. You guys are the best!!!

Okay, here is our site: www.SpectacularCarpetPythons.com It's not 100% finished, but close. I still have to add some photos, activate a few links and tighten up a few loose ends. Either way, let me know what you think! Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Will Leary <><

hmmm snakes.... not for me!!! However, the site is a nice piece of work well done! Good colors, nice simple clean layout, easy to navigate and work through.

I know you said you haven't finished yet, but don't remember to page title your pages as you have your Home Page.

      Great stuff though. : - )
Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.

Hi, the site look great & well put together & fast loading. Couple of things to have a look at. Might need a bit more text within in the pages to help the SE’s & then some key words that relate & are within the text.
Might also be worth changing some of the page titles. IE: “Facility” could relate to any site & may be better being Snake, reptiles care and feeding facilities. The same with collection, in this area you could include all the snake names that you have on the page as key words.
        Regards Chris.

          Hi Will,

I know of Pythons, though I had never heard the term "Carpet". I half expected to see a porn site when I went to view! Just kidding, of course.

Nice look, easy to navigate, great photos. I believe Chris hit it on the head with his comments. I really have nothing to add except keep it up!

          P.S. What's a "het"??

            Re: Ready for review!!!

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Keep them coming! I am still adding and making subtle changes every spare moment I get. Here is my old (current) site that this new one will be replacing next week: www.ReptilicusReptiles.net. I like the new one much better.

            P.S.
The word "het" is short for heterozygous. A heterozygous animal carries a hidden mutant gene (such as albino). When you breed one of these back to another animal that also carries the hidden gene, half of the offspring will visibly display the trait since they now have two copies of the allele. The other half of the offspring will be more hets like the parents and carry the gene invisibly. Hope that makes sense!

Ah! Something I forgot. Is the old site closing down or eventually being redirected to your new one? The only reason I say this! Is that its doing well in google & would be a shame to loose this. But Beth maybe best to ask about this side of things, on how to retain the rank & any pointing or transfering.
              Regards Chris.

                Re: Ready for review!!!

                Chris,

I want to redirect my old address to my new one. I'm not sure how this works exactly, but I want the old address (reptilicusreptiles.net) to still be my main address for my customers. So when people click on my site from their favorites, or click on a link from a Google search, the new site automatically comes up (hopefully seamlessly and without delay). I just bought spectacularcarpetpythons.com in order to have a place to build my new site without interfering with my old one. I designed the old site but someone else built it for me. This new one was an experiment. Now that I know it works I want it to be my primary site -- hopefully without losing Google ranking service! Any help attaining this goal would be great!

                Thanks again,

                Will <><

                  Re: Ready for review!!!

Hi, i am not sure on this side of things, in the respect of if it will affect your rankings. I have got a feeling that the site should of been started with the old address.
You can simply have the old url as an add on domain & redirect to the new site. But check with Beth or someone up on SE's side of things to how this will effect your ranking. 4 is a Google ranking i wouldn't want to loose.
Try a post of 2 domains at 1 site without loosing the SE ranking.
                  Regards Chris.

This is on my top five for new sites! I would change the email link at the bottom. look at how my email's are at the bottom of my pages. Also I would make the navigation one row with out the spacing.

Other then that site looks great.

Something else I would do starting out is name your photos to match your pictures. Like if its a rattle snake the photo should be named rattle snake not homephotoc21. search engines will pick that up! Im guilty of not doing that sometimes :) There is also some meta tags that could help you out. search meta tag tricks (and make sure you read about what not to do with your meta tags cause it could get you bumped down on different engines). just pm me if you have any more questions. Im going to be on this forum alot more now!
