  • Looking for feedback

Our site isn't completely finished but we have many pages up. Can you please check it out. I am open to suggestions.
We're beginners so I am sure there are mistakes here.

    Re: Looking for feedback

    Hi Melisa,

Welcome. A couple of points to consider:
    • Centre your pages
    • Give your pages keyword rich titles
    • Align the different aspects of your page (ie. the three advert blocks at the bottom of your page)
    • For the background picture to work well, your page can't be longer than the height of the background picture used (due to tiling the picture will start to appear again)
    Cheers,
    Andrew

      Re: Looking for feedback

      Melissa,
Have a look at the size of your pictures. (your snow1.jpg file is 203kb and title%20Page.jpg is 157kb) Name your pictures and remove the spaces or replace spaces with (_) (thats why the % sign is in the picture title.)

      Cheers,
      Andrew

What would be a better file size for each of the pictures posted and does this help the page load quicker?

          Re: Looking for feedback

          Hi Taja,

Picture size is not set in stone, but you can't go wrong by sticking to the rule of 'smaller is better' and reduce your pictures as much as possible without compromising picture clarity and quality. I reduce all of my pictures by 60% from cropped (if required) original, using Photoshop. The total size of your page (kb's) is the directly propotionate to 'load speed' and the biggest culprits are picture size and background music etc.

Have a play with this wonderful picture resizer from VH.

          Cheers,
          Andrew

            Re: Looking for feedback

            Hi

This is a really nice looking site!

It's the rockyou slideshow on the homepage that's taking the time to load up.

Titles - your homepage doesn't have one, several pages all have the same title.

Your links page doesn't link anywhere! - Don't know if you haven't finished this page yet? If not, add some text explaining that it's coming soon, and a menu bar so people can navigate back to your site.

Oops - same with the marketplace & contact us.
