    New website

    Hi

I have just completed the first stage of my first website using BlueVoda. There is still a lot of content to add to it. However, before going any further, I should welcome any comments please. In particular, I should like to know if I have made any typical newbie errors!

The site is aimed mainly at photographers; most will be using screens at fairly high resolutions so, for that reason, I have gone slightly larger than the 800 x 600 size that is often recommended. That apart, I have tried to follow "best practice". Thanks.

Your off to a great start. Cut down on the width from 1024 to 1000. Your font under welcome to my webste if it not bold make it bold or a little bigger not to hurt the eyes, on your images center them they lean more to the right, get strong key words or phase for your titles they are all the same other than that your off to a great start good luck.

Hi, would try to get a small blank area down the left side as the text is right up against the edge of the screen.
You have the width set at 1024px & maybe a little better at around the 980 mark to save side scroll.
But the simple B&W look for photos is always a good look.
      Regards Chris.

Thanks to everyone for the constructive (and very fast) feedback.

I agree I was probably overdoing it with a screen width of 1024 - so I've cut that back to 1000 and moved the main text on each page a bit away from the left hand side; also emboldened the "welcome" text. Hadn't spotted the images were all positioned with a bias to the right - sorted that too and these pages look much better. Still got to decide on some good key words!

          Thanks again.

          Regards

          Chris.

            Hi Chris

Thats a nice clean and contemporary looking site you have there. I really like the simple design and clean layout. Very easy on the eye, nice layout, and simple design.
One word of advice, I would do away with displaying your email address on the "contact page", as you might get lots of spam.
You could try adding a form, that way you wont need to give away your email address.
Overall an excellent start for your first website. Well done.

              Hi Rangaz007

Thanks for the feedback. Re my e-mail address - I had thought that if I showed this as an image (it is, actually, a jpeg) then web crawlers would miss it? Have I got that wrong? I accept that I do still face the risk of spammers spotting it and then noting it down. Will consider your suggestion.

              Regards

              Chris.

Nice going Chris. You are definitely on the right track with the way you are going with this site.
