    Hello, I'm also living in Australia... Good job on the website - the revolving adverts at the top of the front page are very blury you may want to re-do those. And you may also want to add some written links to your internal pages so that the spiders can go through your site and not think it has only one page. You could put them down the bottom. Also your bottom link headings are really hard to read until you mouse over them. Keep up the good work.

      I was not able to spend much time on your site, finding the background too visually disturbing.

      You may wish to re-think it, possibly by making the image itself larger (so the tiling is not so 'busy' and visually compelling --- it is a background, not an imperative design element of the site, remember?) and "washing" it out, so it is more suggestive rather than harshly contrasting (it should compliment the page design, not compete with it).

        Hi Vasili,

        Good job! I like it. It suites the topic. Two things, the first being not very very ...

        1) I initially felt the text in the left text boxes should be flush left like in an article, but when I took the time to read them, centered is ok, but thought I would report to you my initial feeling just to let you know.

        2) I ran the site through the links-checker and the report is at http://validator.w3.org/checklink?ur...h=&check=Check

        One remaining feeling about the site, I really like the colour scheme and the red-green tint of the top bar.

        GOOD WORK !

          What in the world are you talking about?
          This thread is all about "Doods" website (which I had nothing to do with whatsoever) > http://www.fnqindependent.com.au/ which has no "green" in it at all!

          ** I would also strongly suggest that you NOT take it upon yourself to run other people's websites through any validator or web tool without their prior authorization, since creating a report for websites still in development creates lasting cache that can negatively impact on the website's future SERP.

          Nothing wrong in suggesting links to tools you think others might find useful, but ethically it is improper to run reports on another's site and leave the results on the Net.

            My sincere apology; I hope I did not cause any problem. Now that I know better, I won’t do this ever again.

                Re: New site please rip it to shreds

                First of all thanks to you all for your advice.

                Gun r: I did have the links on the red bar at the top but my friends wanted the visitors to the site to scroll down so as to see the ads. I didn't think to have a smaller version at the bottom which I have now placed there ;)
                I have looked at the site from serveral computers and the ads don't look blury to me. Does anybody else notice this as I am a bit one eyed and maybe a bit reluctant to do them all again. cheers.

                Vasili: In defense of Elegance Reclaimed I do have green text on a red bar as the links on the other pages.
                I have made the back ground lager and it does look better. I also tried to put a shape and reduced the opacity and it improved ten fold but only appeared on one half of the back ground. Replacing it isn't really an option as my friends love it, So do you have a watermark program that you can recommend because if I have to pay for it I would prefer to buy a tried one.
                Cheers and thanks again :)

                  Ditto with the background being distracting.
                  Using a lot of images the way you are wont do you many favour's with the SE's in knowing what the page is about. You will need more text on the pages.
                  Regards Chris.

                    Re: New site please rip it to shreds

                    the site is very busy and I couldn't tell what was advertising or what I could click on... or what I should read. I agree the background should be washed out and faded.

                    Your headlines on the left are a great idea and I really wanted to read more about each article - is there more to read? It would be great if visitors could click on each headline and read more about it (in depth)!

                    overall I think the site has great potential.

                      I had to agree with Vasili. I couldn't spend too much time there because the background was much too busy.

                        Re: New site please rip it to shreds

                        Below is a suggestion made by Chris of Collectors-info which will lend itself well to your background...may be?

                        ...........but think it would be less distracting if a static background was used to save that strobe effect when scrolling down the page.

                        <style type="text/css">
                        body
                        {
                        background-image:url('http://www.ctpallets.co.uk/images/background6.jpg');
                        background-repeat:no-repeat;
                        background-attachment:fixed
                        }
                        </style>

                        Obviously change the bits that are appropriate to you

                        Here is the result

                          Looking at this again. Chris might have to look in. My background is one image, where as yours is tiled. The above code may have to be tweaked
